Shipper/ brokers seem to think fuel costs do not include truckers, fuel prices way up and freight went down.. what the $@^&( people

Do you advise your terms and conditions when you accept a load? Advise your waiting time, TONU, layover, & border wait time when you quote or accept a load.
we do advise and like most they will say anything to cover their load
then when it comes time for layovers/ extra waiting times no one helps

Unfortunately, like many industries, we have bottom feeders like that. This forum is full of great brokers who care about their partners. Ones that you know do not, try to get it on the front end; build some extra into your rate.
Up markets are great times to build new relationships, as many are looking for solutions.

I'm sure you can talk to a party where wait time occur. They have to know from the carrier about the treatment received. Unless it's their idea, you may be in luck.

They dont care, it is all about money in their pocket and watching the drivers starve. no wonder there is less and less drivers out there. shippers and receivers are killing the insudtry that they need the most
Yes, it is very true that the absolute horrible attitudes at most shippers and receivers have certainly turned drivers to look at other industries. When a driver needs to wait in a small 6 X 6 cage with a crappy plastic chair (and one leg shorter than the others) for hours while they get hopefully get loaded; where nobody gives them updates with 12 docks, 8 trucks waiting, only one forklift driver, it gets frustrating. Add that to the crap rates that the Canadian trucking industry has allowed to persist and the PITA it takes to get waiting time, no wonder why they choose to move on.
A driver with an AZ/Class1 license can make more money driving a garbage truck for any municipality and gets treated better than what the long-haul trucking industry provides. Industry of all forms needs more licensed individuals, and nobody wants to address the elephant in the room that an AZ license should be worth a lot more in respect and in dollars.
Sorry, we better realize it is not going to get better. Do you not also see customers getting cheaper on rates as fuel goes thru the roof.

Customers (brokers) keep asking, why are you charging so much??? Well, here is why; the rack price for diesel, the price that the pumping stations pay to get their fuel, without taxes and transportation, at the cheapest place in Ontario is 1.957 per litre. This is the highest price ever including that period of time just after the Iran war started. Add in taxes and transportation you get what you see at the pumps. If you think gas is expensive, try running a truck up and down the road with fuel that is about 60 cents more expensive than gasoline.

Just to keep fuel in your mind, the DOE has hit an all time high. Most carriers have a fuel surcharge based on the fuel price as reported by the DOE. US Average - 5.967 US/GAL only up $2.20 since last year.
