Got another winner, take this to get your equipment to the Richie auction sooner … who is hauling this . 95 cents per mile . Maybe a bit more if your truck is offloading in same dock
Of course I had the conversation with broker , explained costs and time needed . To complete a short haul , value added . not to go cheap . But be fair . There is no way non assets business is knocking on doors offering trucking services for 25 to 30 dollars per hour . Their response was “it’s 46 miles “.. they think that rate is fair , than to send a email 1 hr later saying it was covered for that price . Just shows this business is off the rails where brokers laugh at carriers with low ratesI know we are not here to pick on specific brokers that have been good to us over the years. I did an ltl for Starship a month or so ago inbound from NY and they offered me a very fair rate. I was actually very happy with the rate offered. Doesn't negate any one else's experiences, but I could have been offered a ridiculous rate from a broker we have a long history with and I would not be airing that out here on this forum. I would be more inclined to speak with them about it and move on. Times are tough for all of us right now.....
I wouldn’t go so far to say that brokers are “laughing at carriers with low rates”. There have always been a few freight brokers whose business plan involves selling every shipment they get at the lowest possible price to whatever carrier they can convince to take it. No thought towards developing beneficial working relationships, no consideration about service levels and perhaps only a bare minimum of attention to licensing, insurance and other required regulatory issues. Maybe their clients are extremely price conscious, or maybe the broker is just greedy, who knows. As frustrating as their actions might be, I believe they are in the minority and do not accurately reflect the behaviour of most freight brokers. Identifying these characters and avoiding them as much as possible is a good course of action.Of course I had the conversation with broker , explained costs and time needed . Stopped working with them 2 years ago. I still get emails or calls for quotes on rare occasion but can't entertain them. There rates are below average and the term i would prefer to use is "dirt cheap". FTL, LTL, long haul, short runs - they have cheap rates on all. And there's nothing wrong in calling out brokers who offer cheap rates. Just like we all don't hesitate calling out carriers who are running scams and providing below average services. As per email Signature, it's Starship Freight.. 35 years in the Business.
Carriers that get 10 grand from Airdrie to Mississauga would haul this home.Another one..... and i desperately wanna know the carriers, who haul these loads at such low rates
