Cheap Freight of the day

You should see the stuff Wellington's CEO is saying on LinkedIn about cheap freight.
Wellington thinks their shit don't stink and maybe it dosen't but a heck of a lot of their freight rates do. I have all but given up even trying to work with them. If i do ever get a decent rate the load always seems to cancel..

Yep, same experience with them. Decent rate and an hour later "oh the load fell through".
Brokerage speak for "we found a shittier carrier with a better rate"

Missed out on this one .. after I told him not to waste my time . He sent me message back to let me know he covered it ….

Just terrible bunch of people
Good day, as we can all appreciate the need to vent about negotiation tactics and efforts, I can completely understand in today's markets.

But the one thing I would like to request is to please remove my staff member's name from your post, They is not at fault in any way. They are doing their job. If you need a name to put up there, you can use mine. I would be more than glad to answer any questions or calls.

Thanks in advance

Cheap ass broker.

6 hours at shipper yesterday. No detention from broker due to being 15 minutes late..
What an industry.
You should have played smart there a little bit. Stuck for 15 mins at the customer's driveway or backing up would help. A 15-minute delay will not delay the supply chain, where loading takes 6 hours. The market is so tight, every decision has to be so calculative. and I am sure your broker billed 6 hours to the end customer.

Boss of all crooks !! I am1000% sure the end customer is not paying $2000 or $2100. This is a modern form of slavery where you are forced unknowingly to accept this.

Cheap ass broker.
I feel like name calling is beneath you.

Having worked at this specific firm for 15 years I can tell you that some clients understand the dynamics of transportation and offer fair rates which allows a broker to offer fair rates - often this is regular, ongoing freight on the same lanes and it should represent the bulk of a brokers business in order to be set up for success. This brokers success can be measured by it's longevity with the same ownership.

Sometimes, there's transactional clients, race to the bottom clients that a broker or carrier can chose to work with, or not. I can tell you often times rates being offered are a reflection of customer expectations. As many here have said, a client wants the load to move for the lowest rate they paid over the last 10 years. It's up to the broker to go to market and see if they can sell the freight for the rate the customer is asking. If not, they have to explain to the client that their expectations are unrealistic.
In the end, when freight is scarce, rates go down, when freight is abundant rates go up.

Everything I've said above is common sense to anyone who's spent some time working in transport.

Although I'm not there anymore, when I was, we sure cared about our customers, sure cared about building strong, long lasting relationships with our carrier partners. I've met most of the carrier membership here in person or on the phone. I have friendships that have outlasted my career in transport. Even though some of my former colleagues are not there anymore, I expect that the culture and ethics that have been rooted in the company stand.

Don't judge a broker because of one or a few shipments they are working on could be a transactional customer. I can tell you it doesn't feel good trying to book freight for under market rates. It's embarrassing sometimes. No one wants to insult you with a number, it usually comes from the beneficial owner of the goods.

Anyway, low rates are bad for the industry from all angles, here's hoping our governments get their head out of their ass and boost our economies rather than continuing to destroy them. Sadly, I feel like there's only one unlikely solution. We all know what that is.

Happy Friday, keep being awesome!! :)
