Cheap Freight of the day

Well, that's not a terrible rate ... Everybody knows there's no extra money for hauling haz.
It's 2,365 miles and takes 47.5 hours driving time.
Fuel: 2,365 miles x $0.80/mile = $1,892.00
Wages: 47.5 driving hours @ $15.50 per hour = $736.25 <insert red flag here>
Truck: $3,500/31x2 = $225.80
Trailer: $500/31x2 = $32.26
Maintenance: 5 axles x $0.03/per mile x 2,365 miles = $354.75
Office overhead: 2,365 miles x $0.20/mile = $473.00
Profit Margin: $185.94 (hell, that's a 4.7% profit margin !!!)

TOTAL: $3,900.00

If that is how you do your cost math ... or more colloquially known as screw your driver math !!!
(Just think of the money you'd be making if you did 100 of those a day !!!)

ah yes $185.94, just enough for some truck stop burritos and the doctor's office follow-up after you tear your exit ramp up (probably will cost more than that)

who else got the email of 7 tri-axle loads from windsor to mississauga for $700.00?? with the fuel prices at $1.65/l, how does that work for Tri's?

I had to read it twice to make sure I didn't accidently try to book a LTL, It was indeed a FTL;

"I have a load from Trenton ON to Mississauga For tomorrow or Friday delivery between 8am to 5pm
rate is 300 Please advise when do you want to pick up"

Paper?

who's running Windsor to Mississauga for FLS? Tri axles for $500
so you got that email too LOLL From what I see alot of capacity lop sided over the border, so they are taking anything out of the border cities to get back instead of rolling empty. But still $500 is vomit worthy on Tri's or even tandems or straights for that matter. Heck even if it was a skid on the back of a pick up, its not worth it.

Like, seriously, knowing these loads are going for such a crazy low price, why even put 'em out there, eh? What's the deal, anyway? I've been wracking my brain, but I just can't get my head around it

ITS ALL ABOUT THE "RIPS" reddit is filled with brokers flat out boasting how much margins (Rips as they call it) they are making off the situation. They did get a good kick in the butt during covid and the BC floods season, so its just a see saw and right now we know who's the bottom and who's the top.
