Vermani Trucking

also how is it a complete unknown even after loading about these extra stops, was the driver not given paperwork,,,

even if its not cross border, on his bol it states ONE drop, then the customer decides at the ONE planned drop he wants to branch it into 3 drops,

something doesn't add up...
We weren't told by our customer that it would be multi-drop, only the destination city was known. The carrier had noticed there were extra stops on the paperwork and had brought it to our attention.

I've had to have those discussions with customers in the past. It goes something like this:

Had we been given the full details of these extra drops in advance, we could have negotiated with the carrier for our regular additional per drop fee of $xxxx/drop and $x.xx per off route mile. However the negotiating power is removed from us when the freight is loaded and the driver/carrier is blindsided by additional drops. This carrier charges $xxxx, for the additional work being requested as they are a long haul provider and not set up for this kind of thing. We are not marking it up, in good faith, and we must accept this as a fair rate for the additional work requested. Alternately, the first receiver can offload the entire shipment and we can arrange a local provider to handle these moves for you at a rate of $xxxx. We will do as you instruct, thanks so much for your final thoughts.

Most people are logical. In the end the person who didn't mention the extra drops either was negligent or trying to pull a fast one. They should be more forthcoming with the information you need to provide them with the service they need.

Keep well,
Mike

Not sure I mentioned, had to call an all staff meeting to remind people not to smoke weed at their 9:00 AM coffee break... Yep, it sure is a different world up here in the North...

3 loads in one week.

First one went great, solid communication throughout, slightly late for delivery but nothing crazy.
So thought lets book 2 more loads...
Second load not so great.. Late for pick up, driver did not listen to direction from the shipper at all and actually ended up getting banned from the shipper, but regardless got him loaded and out of there. Was to deliver next morning 8am, no communication but truck didn't arrive at the receiver so after multiple emails and phone calls I got told eta is 11am. Due to this delay half the crew set up to offload left for another job. The remaining guys took 5 hours to offload. Even though he was late I said wait time would be paid. This is when Ajay the owner called me yelling, demanding $2500 (this load was delivering in Montreal on Friday) and that he was holding my 3rd load (that they loaded that morning 7am) hostage then hung up. To try and save face and not completely destroy the relationship with Vermani (as our first load was awesome), even though my customer was beside themselves on this performance I offered $1500 to cover the wait time and bring the truck home empty. Ajay was still not looking to come to an agreement and threatened to contact shippers and receivers on all loads to bill direct plus keep my 3rd load.

The only settlement was pay $2000 for him to bring his truck home empty from Montreal pay the 2 loads completed then pay COD on the 3rd load he had in the yard, which also arrived late.

Do as you please with this information, I know what I will do on my next load and it will not involve Vermani

My experiences with Vermani are similar but not as extreme.

Nothing is their fault, ever.

The few loads we did, they were late to both pick up and delivery. I believe someone here still uses them but I will not.

Interesting. Called them them many times on loads, but never connected. Thank god.

Agreed Maybe Ajay needs a visit from OH and S at the Warehouse they use I am sure everyone would love that I am sure there would be a lot more then 2000 dollars of fines and or fixings they have to do. Carriers need to be careful who they threaten threatening to hold a load hostage could turn out ugly.
