Trucker Convoy

Honestly - you need to STOP with your vilification of a group of people and religion. @admin there should be no place for this on here
are you scared by what i have to say? does it hurt your feelings?
we are in a free country with ability to voice our points of view freely.

they are appealing it - so this is far from over
That's the sad part. Literally millions will be spent on this, over years and years as it wends its way through the appeals system, with no discernible outcome that will have any affect on the public at large.

@NotForHire ... The Amish have a Mafia ... you don't want to mess with them boys !!! ... ROFLMAO

Going back to the Truckers Rally, which pretty much proved our freedoms are not what they once were, or what we thought they were. Unfortunately this is Canada, and this will never have a real ending where anyone is actually held accountable. Except for Tamara Lich and Chris Barber. you'd think one judges ruling would have an effect on another trial still going on. Regardless of what they say, that rally was the beginning of the end of the ridiculous economy crushing Covid restrictions. I salute anyone that helped that come to an end.

@NotForHire it's your delivery man. You come off like a 15 year old edge lord who would 100% jump at the opportunity to levy "anti-semitism" when it fits you. Go touch grass, go vote, sign up for toastmasters. This is like a mock UN assembly in grade 8 and you didn't come prepared.

You invalidate any credibility by your delivery.

Government was justified in using the Emergencies Act. Police forces were useless in bringing the blockade to an end, and something needed to be done. I'm all for having the right to protest, but as with everything else there are limits. Protesting in a peaceful way is part of the democratic process, but when that process includes blockading neighbourhoods with heavy equipment, then the rights of others are infringed upon.i.e. if I'm not happy with my property tax hike (for example) does this give me licence to urinate and defecate on your doorstep just because you happen to live near city hall? Is it ok for me to limit your freedom to move about and to feel safe in your own home? I'm mad, and you're just collateral damage if you happen to be in the way of "my right to protest".. Doesn't sound right to me.

Please remember this is a transportation related site for us to share ideas, concerns, etc.
Personal beliefs about religion, ethnicity and any other hate have no place here period.

Stop it, I don't care to take the time to delete your posts.

Thanks,
Mike
If this anti immigrant nonsense continues you may be forced to start deleting and perhaps take even more drastic steps. Racism in any shape or form has no place here. There are plenty of other social media sites that thrive on and foster that kind of vile and disgusting hatred.

I have several close friends and extended family that live in Ottawa. Citizens fearful to leave their home means the protesting was not peaceful. One of my friends whose grandparents happens to be from Korea was spat at by a group of protesters and was told he created the Covid and was told to go back to his country. He's second generation Canadian just like me.
I feel like the Trucker convoy was a protest, organized, fairly peaceful, respectful of people and their property. Once they set up shop in Ottawa, shit disturbing, angry, unintelligent people just looking to cause a disturbance showed up and made it a shit show. There were two kinds of protesters in my opinion, the government had to do something and they chose this route.

Keep well,
Mike

I for one think the Trucker Convoy was great for our country and like minded Canadians.
I felt isolated in my refusal to be vaccinated or wear a mask in public , I was told to work from home.
Which I gladly did for 2 years and then was welcomed back to the office with open arms after the fear of covid went away.

From the outside looking in , so many people complied with Government mandates but when has the government really ever cared about you??

Keep in mind the judge also said

“I was leaning to the view that the decision to invoke the EA was reasonable. I considered the events that occurred in Ottawa and other locations in Jan. and Feb. 2022 went beyond legitimate protest and reflected an unacceptable breakdown of public order,”

And for those that don't remember, the organizers intention (not in the judges ruling):

"Many of those participating and supporting in the blockade signed a memorandum of understanding issued by Canada Unity, one of the groups organizing the convoy. That MOU called on the Governor General and the Senate of Canada to somehow form a new government with the protesters themselves."

They care about all of us.

Covid restrictions and mask mandates were in keeping with what healthcare professionals called for. The government acted in accordance with advice from medical experts. Could things have been done better? In hindsight.. of course. The virus caught everyone by surprise. Some people felt that enacted measures and restrictions were over the top and uncalled for... maybe.. maybe not.

You are free to have any opinion you choose. You are free to believe whatever you want. However spewing racist, hateful garbage is simply not allowed here on this private, transport related site. If that is difficult for you, perhaps you should look elsewhere to promote your vile and disgusting nonsense.

It appears that you yourself deleted one of your own comments that was off topic. Off topic comments full of hate will be removed. Sometimes by me or another volunteer Mod, sometimes by the original poster once they have thought about their post a little more.

Keep well, try and have a happy day today,
Mike

This was the root of it all. Going back a few steps to when the Convoy started, it was really about protesting Drivers being able to move across the border to deliver essential goods, NOT being exempt from the 10 day mandatory quarantine after coming back from "another country". Then once the convoy picked up some momentum, we tacked on a few other frustrations in the industry, by the time they were in Ottawa, it morphed into something completely different with a plethora of social issues and had nothing really to do with Trucking itself. It was great to see folks from our industry come together for a united cause but we lost focus and ultimately gained nothing from it. It would have made a real difference, had we stuck to what we really started the rally for. The circus that happened after the fact just made the stereo-type of our industry more prevalent.
