Michael, relax pal, my reference was ” a large number of members of this site”, no names involved and come on, you read the posts as well as I do. Are there not members who support/supported the protestors? Of course there were, we both read them. They are neither Satanists, nor do they represent the majority of Canadians. If there was ever going to be a place, besides perhaps a meeting of the Peoples Party of Canada, where you would find this type of support for the protestors and their cause(s), it is here. Again, no names because that isn’t what is important. I know I am not now, and never will become 40 years younger anytime soon. So in spite of my heartfelt sympathies for the people of the Ukraine all, I can offer is my support for their cause and be oh so thankful that I was born in Canada and remain a loyal and proud Canadian citizen. Although Mexico is really, really, really nice too.!

I disagree with polls as I find them highly erroneous but once again @loaders you are incorrect.
Abacus poll recently shows support at 33% which is in my opinion is not "country wide support". In fact his negative impression rating has grown to 46% which is the highest ever - almost half!.

Jim L the polls I am referring to are as follow:
Angus Reid Feb 11-13 -69% of respondents said they were opposed to the protestors themselves, their approach and their behaviour vs 27% who said they were supportive.
64% said they opposed the protestors demands to end all pandemic restrictions vs 33% who said they were supportive.
in addition 72% said that the protestors had made their point and should go home vs 22% who said they should stay.
Leger Poll Feb 4 -6 in collaboration with the Canadian Press news agency found that 62% of respondents opposed the protest message of fewer mandates vs 32% who supported that message.
Ipsos Poll Feb 8-9 on behalf of Global News found that 59% of respondents agreed with the statememt “the protest is mostly a group of anti vaxxers and bigots intent on causing mayhem and should not be allowed to protest”. 41% disagreed.
Maru Research Poll Feb 9-10 56% of respondents said they “do not agree with the protestors in any way shape or form” and that everything should be done to end the protest. 20% said they fully support the protests and 24 % said they support the reasons for the protests, but not the way they are going about it.
64% agreed with the statement “Canada’s democracy is being threatened by a group of protestors and they must be stopped immediately.”
Jim, sometimes the facts just don’t fit your narrative, we all must prepare ourselves for that eventuality. Perhaps the polls will change, and they very well might, or someone will come up with a new way to parse or dissect them making them more favourable to your position. If your position is that all polls are somehow erroneous, then why would one that supports your position be any more credible than one that supports mine? However, I do like that poll you posted as it shows, as I tried to show, 57% of respondents either support or strongly support invoking the EMA vs.30% who oppose, or strongly oppose. Thanks.

I do think Trudeau is not qualified for the job, and I am not especially fond of the Liberal party's politics. They were duly elected under the laws of this country and I'll have to live with that, but to imply that I despise either of them is taking a liberty you are not entitled to.

I am not. I am here wishing I were 40 years younger because I would rather be with those brave Ukrainians fighting for their freedom instead of laying my head down on a nice soft pillow in Toronto.

Personally my support was for their right to protest, not necessarily the points of their protest.

Here's the best poll ... Take stock of what your family, friends, and peers are thinking and saying. Typically they formulate a fairly reasonable cross section of the public as a whole.

Regardless of which polls you decide to adhere to I think it is fairly safe to say that JT has lost touch with Canadians because every one of those polls tells the same story in one way or another.
Just as Stephen Harper was willing to (and did) die on the Bill C15 hill, so has Justin Trudeau decided to die on the 100% Vaccinations-or-bust hill. And, that's okay. Nothing lasts forever, nor do politicians stay in office forever. Change is inevitable, and we are due for change. Whether that change is for the good remains to be seen.

Today's news out of eastern Europe is not good news, and my deepest fear is that our leader is going to get us into more trouble than we can handle.

Michael, therein lies the problem. Most of our family and especially friends, tend to hold the same opinion on many topics as we do. It is human nature to want to surround oneself with people of like minds. To be entirely honest, if it wasn’t for this site I have to say that I know of no one who supported this protest. The same as some on this site who know of no one who didn’t. We all like to exist in an echo chamber, it makes us feel that our opinions are correct after all and that makes us feel good. As I have said, this protest and the events that followed, while still painful and raw for some folks, is disappearing from view as new and much, much more dangerous and important events take its place. I don’t think you have too much to worry about as far as JT‘s actions are concerned with this matter. As a member of NATO, we kind of have to follow the crowd.

I also support the right to protest.. so long as its a protest and not an occupation. Protesting to get news coverage and to bring publicity to an issue is one thing.. holding a city or someone else's property hostage to bring about change is quite another.

Interesting that the three EU members of parliament mentioned, are all proud anti vaxxers and COVID conspiracy theorists. All three of their names appear prominently in even the most basic of internet searches. They were even refused entry into the EU parliament buildings for refusing to show proof of vaccination. Using them as role models to somehow “school” our PM in democracy is really quite humorous. Also interesting that these articles seem to appear only on the right wing government conspiracy sites and of course that source of pure facts….Twitter! Even the mainstream European media can identify wing nuts when they see them! Hilarious!

You do know that she is a member of the far right ADF party? The same party that a German court ruled was a threat to democracy. Maybe a great umpire, but please stay on the ball field. Of course, she, like everyone else is entitled to their opinion, but I think I will listen to the non Nazis first.

Can that ass do anything to fog up your rose coloured glasses you see him through? . SNC, BlackFace, groping, etc etc etc and you still pander for him. I do not get it. Go out back and give your head a good shake might help. PS there was 4-6 that gave him shit but we know you and MSM will have excuses that they are all bad and JT is the savior.

Hey listen, as I have said many times, I have never voted Liberal in my life and have no need or desire to “protect” JT. All I am pointing out, is that the group of EU members of parliament who spoke out against PM Trudeau, have a well documented history of anti vaccine protests and anti COVID conspiracies, so their critical speeches should not have been a surprise to anyone. They have all been previously sanctioned by the EU parliament for their COVID related publicity stunts. Believe what ever you want, God knows there are enough theories available on social media to satisfy even the most bizarre ideas. Just do yourself a small favour before hitting the “buy” button, do a little, just a little research into the claims some of these people make and what their background is. What is that expression….”consider the source”.

No use considering the source when the liberals and their followers as well as most media could find something to pin on Mother Teresa if she said anything bad about JT.
