Truck Not Used

How about organizing an Inside Trans event? Thoughts, ideas? It's obvious that beer needs to be involved! ;-)

It was tried a couple of years back. Problem from I what I understand is finding a suitable, convenient location. Members of this site are scattered across the GTA, the Province and further afield.

Sometimes it really pays to look two or three moves ahead to identify potential problems.. a massive tonu due to a 500 mile deadhead can be avoided by not accepting the truck in the first place.. a Nike in reverse.. just don't do it!
If the broker agrees to the 500 mile deadhead then separate the rate for deadhead on the confirmation, maybe $750 for deadhead to pick up and the load rate of $1,500 or whatever. Don't move the truck if the broker wont separate the charges.

Thanks a lot for your comments. The bottom line here is if the broker screwed up and they have some reputation to protect they will pay - period. It is just cheaper to pay that lousy $250..... If they are a scumbag or just stupid they will play games and come up with all kinds of evasive maneuvers and excuses, In the long run, it will cost them much more in bad reviews, customers pissed off when called on Christmas Day to pay, and so on.....

Deadheading that far is a risky thing to do if you don't have some kind of backup plan in the event of the load being cancelled..Especially when it involves a truck that can't take alternative loads. Some shippers will offer replacement loads which often simply won't work.. i.e. interstate or won't work on the equipment. I find it really pays to ask the carrier where the truck is now. Sometimes the answer will surprise you... you have a discussion around that, and we agree the truck is too from the load. Also, the risk of the truck cancelling goes up if the truck is far away.. carrier will of course cancel your load if they come up with a closer load at the 11th hour.
