Sorry guys if it's a bit of the topic BUT.... 100% agree with thebluffs1 ... here is the story of my day with them TODAY...
TQL's load: DRY... ON to USA (1 day trip) FOOD related so FDA is involved. Customs broker information is not on Load and/or Driver's sheet so called TQL right the way to get the customs info... respond: "don't worry shipper will have everything tomorrow for the driver"
6 AM truck showing up for his pick up... 1 hour later truck loaded ... BUT shipper doesn't have any paperwork except Packaging slip (size of toilet paper, written by hand)...
Call TQL, explained them the situation (truck is not able to leave shipper until BOL is provided, so detention will be charged after 2 hours from truck arrival until paperwork is provided)....was transferred to THE manager. Here is the respond from THE manager:
"... OOOO you one of THOSE companies that claims tons of money for nothing..."
"... we will not charge our client for missing paperwork..."
"... 2 hours rule apply only for the appointment, FCFS facility if 5 hours it is in our policy, that you signed, you have to read 1st before signing it..."
....
(Quality Costumer Service and Nice Phone/emails manners are #1 for me, but I almost lost myself after I was called "one of THOSE companies".... I checked the agreement that was signed with them way way back, and it has nothing about detention...) May be any of you here can explain which policy they referring to?

Here is two options provided to me by the TQL manager for this situation:
Option #1. You can leave shipper facility or wait for the paperwork over there... your choice, BUT no addition compensation will be made for any issue/delay related or not related to this delay. by the way delivery appointment better not to be missed, because no one will paying it.
Opinion #2. (I was in shock, when I heard this option) We can take you FROM this LOAD (despite the fact the trailer is loaded already... they will not pay for the cancellation or anything else, because I'm one of "THOSE" companies who claims money for nothing and wasting everyone's time.
... (30 minutes on the phone and both agreed on option #1) ...
4 hours and 50 minutes later, I got the paperwork BUT no one telling me who is going to clear this load.... now my truck is waiting beside the border until everyone will finish their lunch at TQL...
...
My question of the day is WHY? WHY I agreed to this loaded? WHY?
...
THIS IS A TYPICAL STORY when you dealing with TQL (specially when load crossing the board) CANADA only loads also have problems like on the delivery day you can find out the load from Montreal to Guelph, ON is going to Calgary, AB (ops TQL's clerical mistake on BOL)... OR.... shipment from Calgary to Edmonton have no paperwork at all (no weight, no count, etc) respond: "why you need paperwork if truck is not crossing the boarder!" ... all this from personal experience and I can go on and on about TQL because every second their shipment has some kind of problem for which their will NOT willing to pay to you (cause you one of "THOSE" companies)
I already start asking them if this line is regular line that you do... (because you don't what to be the 1st one!) ...

100% it will be last load with them for me, since I'm one of "THOSE companies"
