Hard to blame the brokers when carriers are crazy enough to accept the loads.
Until carriers grow some kahunas and "just say no" this will go on forever.
Trucking is the only business I know that we things are slow we do it for free. Some carriers think that "well, its better than running empty", guess what it's not.
The sad part of the story is that the dispatcher who accepted this load probably thought he did good work by finding freight for his truck.
Sad state.

Saturday pick up. Ready @ 11:00 AM, close @ Noon

P/U: Toronto, ON

Del: San Antonio, TX

Rate: $ 1200.00 CDN

Doing this will end up putting you out of business.

With all those appointments so late in the day, that has "set up for failure" written all over it. That load at the last company I was at would be worth like $350+fsc. Sounds like a load from Horizon Plastics. They are notoriously cheap.

cheap load of the day

Transcorr National

Whitby, ON - Memphis, TN - miles - 1014, going for $1050. Where do they find carriers do this for them? How can we compete with this?

American truckers. Flat bed rates in the states go for $1.10/mile on the HIGH end... and they are tickled pink to run it.

While I was typing this reply: "Nolan Transportation" offered a 2 pick, 2 drop from Toronto to Stow OH for a whopping $425! Full tarping, 1 hr per pick-up.

Dee, didn't mean to insult you.

What I was referring to is some brokers having their salespeople hire people at low wages to dispatch freight (like $10-$12 per hour cheap) with no experience at all ... and they are usually young women, it's a fact ...

When one has no idea what they are selling, they don't know any better than to think what they are doing is OK. An experienced person I believe would let that type of freight rot on the load board.
