Trans Canada closed indefinitely in Nipigon

I love this country but our infrastructure is a joke. Major player in the world and we have one 2 lane highway.

I do believe this may become a very interesting week. Is it even possible to move intransit through the states anymore?

I read an article that said that it was still open for pedestrian traffic. Like, would anyone actually want to walk across that bridge in that state...lol
 
as per OPP, 1 lane now open with traffic controls for both way traffic. no idea is its just cars or trucks being allowed, but opp twitter feed updated 18 mins ago.

Yes intransit is possible but not for some goods.

But it requires proper customs docs..no more estimated value like we all used to do

It will be 2 bridges they are just working on the other side at the moment but I agree there should be another solution because if 1 has the problem chances are the other one will have the same problem.
 
After looking at pictures I don't think I'd want to cross that bridge. Is the old one still there?
Kinda proof that old is better LOL just like me

According to CTV news, the problem developed when high winds got under the bridge and lifted it.
What I want to know is this ...
1) Who was the genius that engineered that disaster?
2) Where did he/she get their engineering degree?
3) Why didn't MTO catch this issue in the design phase?
4) Who were the genius MTO engineer(s) that oversaw this project?
5) How many millions/billions is it going to cost to fix, or even replace?
6) How many of these people are related to our illustrious premiere?
7) What lawyer is going to grab a hold of this and start suing the design firm, the contractor, the MTO, the Province of Ontario, and the federal government?

How is it that China can build a really long bridge made out of glass but all we can do is build a simple bridge that falls apart as soon as there is a light breeze? I think I should go back to school and get an engineering degree.

If you see the pictures, they have weights piled up on one side of the bridge to "push" that side down to make it level with the other side.
 
The lieberals gave the contract to an engineering firm in Spain.
They outsourced the cables to a company in Spain.
They outsourced the bolts to a company in China.

Hmmmm, yet they will rant and rave about how they are bending over backwards to improve the provincial economy.

Aren't you all glad you voted for another 4 years of Wynne's Follies.?

If there is anything good to say about this whole fiasco, it would be, thank goodness the bridge was cable supported preventing it from crashing down, into the river. At least there is finally one lane open. Sheared bolts seems to have been the "weak link" in this failure.

No kidding ??? ... They really probably were Chinese bolts. I know when I order new Freightliner Cascadia Evolutions I have to specify American made wheel bearings. There have been numerous wheel bearing failures with the standard Chinese ones, and it's a known failure point.
