ALWAYS call Interport Border Services in Mississauga (if crossing Fort Erie) to verify the invoice provided by your carrier to you has not been doctored if not a long standing trusted relationship. They will not send you a copy but you can request to verify information like the time, the carrier name, the consignee and destination info, the fee etc...
I'm in the middle of dealing with a carrier that may be trying to bill each LTL client on this TL the same $355 by fraudulently forging the Consignee/Destination information and sending to all of his customers. The writing is close, the width of the pen strokes is slightly thinner... This case could be a driver misleading his dispatcher but more than likely not...
If I discover that this is in fact what is happening, I will post all of the carrier information to protect you, my peers.
