Unlikely that a stand alone brokerage could do this. No carrier would agree to work for a broker who isn’t properly setup. This is more relevant to carriers who occasionally broker freight off to other carriers. And even so.. the 10K fine, even in the unlikely event that a fine is assessed, is peanuts..

Carriers can get broker authorities as well. Better pay 3k+ for a bond versus 10k fine for each offense.

Maybe US carriers, but plenty of brokers on here do. The 10k isn't worrisome; I just wasn't aware of the personal liability.
