Starteck Transport, Lasalle, PQ, New Broker?

Good, professional carriers really have nothing to worry about during these times of fly by night, rate cutting, shady operators and double/triple brokering “carriers”. All the good ones have to do is keep doing what they have always done, providing good service at fair prices and being honest with all their customers, shippers and brokers alike. This is the advantage they have over the less than honourable clowns. In my experience, there has never been a time where maintaining solid relationships with your suppliers has been more important. Chasing that extra dollar by using cheap, sketchy carriers will almost always end in some sort of disaster. A brokers time is much better spent servicing his clients and developing new opportunities as opposed to putting out the fires and screw ups caused by using either the lowest bidder or the new guy no one has ever heard of.
The So "Good "carriers are going bankrupt in masse now , being replaced by the new low-level companies working from the streets , no overhang for offices/parking/repair units.

They can sustain lowest rates and if things go real bad , they simply wrap up in the matter of the month not paying no one.
Then the process repeats itself.

IN Canada we have no laws against the fraud , human smuggling , drug dealings and these low-level carriers are taking full advantage of it.

Yeah , surely. You are smart enough to DNU Startek, a reliable company that has been in business for over 15 years, has a terminal in Lasalle with office , warehouse and crossdocks.

You will prefer to keep looking for someone else around.

Good luck

Thank you. Reliable maybe, but in my opinion using shady business practices. Would have been a totally different conversation if they had been open and advised us, and allowed us to make the decision if it was okay to put our load on someone not running under their insurance and authorities.

If this was the case Starteck would not be on our DNU...

Another attribute that the good, professional carriers possess, is their ability to adjust to changing market pressures such as declining rates. In most cases they don’t pull the plug and declare bankruptcy when things get tough. They rejig their operation, reducing overhead where necessary and pulling back from unprofitable lanes. Good business people, and there are many in the transportation industry, have the knowledge and experience to recognize the ups and down and cyclical nature of trucking and know how to ride it out.

But we prefer it busy and rates being sustainable the shit going on now is a joke, All these Double brokering scams etc. I surely liked it better when it was busy as heck and rates where where everyone was making a buck. But my list of brokers that will get an eye opening when it does turn again is getting quite long. I will remember all the buck a mile shit you asses offered.

Just like the economy book lolz. Do this , adjust that. There are many other aspects where carriers have not much contol : cost of parking, cost of repairs and parts , general availability of all of above.

Your nice words are good for fleets that own their lands , have their own repair shop and service trucks and have 70-80% of their fleet paid off.

In my case I own my lands , trucks and trailers paid off , and I can't go bankrupt because I have no major debt. I have never serviced a truck at the dealer. All repairs are done in House. With all of above I am still running only one paid off truck to Usa and it barely makes any money after 2850$ insurance , 360$ plate , and everything else
