Was going to book with this carrier and they gave us a fake number for insurance, they have someone answering the line but not 100% sure how to explain a lie, when the agent says we have to ask the carrier if its valid then you know...

and they wanted QP before the load was PU....

Would be quick gold if you book a couple dozen loads a day for 60-90 days and then shut her down.. For the life of me cannot figure why any broker would be doing business with an unknown at least name in the business. You do not have to personally know the owner but at least of seen they are a legit carrier.
Agreed. As we all know, there are more trucks than there are loads right now. Brokers, at least for the next little while, will have the luxury of being able to pick the best available carriers for their loads, not just whatever is available. Brokers and carriers alike, should use this time wisely and develop good working relationships with partners who can offer real value to their respective operation. Honesty, dependability and reliability are the KPIs (another acronym that I hate) we should all be looking for.

Just called me on a load out of TN- Ontario. If we can not do quick pay he will not do the load. Okay FO then. Did not like me pointing out demanding QP is a big red flag scammer type of deal.
not to mention a gmail address.

I never trust Gmail address, if a company can afford 55.00 to set office 365 account, then they shouldn't be pulling your loads!

But!!! Don't get me wrong we do work with others who have a Gmail but are heavily screened first.

They just emailed me regarding my cross border shipment, US - CA. They have US authority, are they even allowed to cross the border?

Agreed! One of my very trusted carriers has a hotmail account and I'm always telling them to fix that crap. Mind you, the shysters will find a way no matter what. Due diligence and checking with our pals on this forum are a good start in the vetting process :)

Good Ol "Tom watkins" got ahold of me today. Wouldn't have passed the sniff test, but I appreciate the inside transport folks.

Spent a bit of time making excuses and driving the rate down for fun. Then dropped the bomb.
Good stuff

They are calling for 1 of my loads today. I am getting quite a few calls from carriers in the USA. They are relatively new companies with 1 or 2 trucks showing on FMSCA, and no inspections, and sometimes no General Liability. I ask for the information they are missing in their package, 2 references including location and contact numbers. They go away. I confirmed via telephone with customer service at Loadlink they are not members.

I would guess most if not all are scammers as they seem top be the first calls on loads lately.

For US to US only worth using carriers you have worked with, new scammers and new ways of scamming coming out everyday, rather turn down the load than have to turn into scooby doo looking for missing freight. Best bet would be using carrier 411 or other similar platforms. Most US brokers are quick to catch on and don't hesitate reporting these guys.

For the Loadlink part - more and more at on DAT. If I can't find them on the loadlink and they are only on DAT, this is a huge flag for me. Have another that's reaching out to us non stop since yesterday - DND Star Transport MC 1487498 - another gmail company

there are huge WhatsApp groups for double brokerage farms - they literally book everything nationwide and then dispatch it within themselves (to carriers that are not in their group) and split the money amongst themselves.

Shine Logistics
or
Immensity Group
or
Eternity Group
or
a/& a million more clowns in that car.

I would not put too too much trust in carrier 411. Anybody can put a compliant about anybody else, and there is no investigation or even some minimum fact checking. Think about all those double brokering scammers that got caught and look for a revenge. Sure use it, but keep this in mind.... We were a victim a few times.
