I'll chime in regarding service received:
Ongo (this month) handled 2 same day local FB loads (no tarps required) for us. Steve and Charlie's communication was ok, the loads picked up and delivered as promised, the BOL's have Ongo all over them (the loads were not rebrokered) and we'd certainly work with them again if the opportunity presents itself.
Perhaps they offer different customers different levels of service? Perhaps they had a very difficult day causing service issues. If we have a few on vacation and a few with appointments, family tragedy or illness sometimes there can be a slight impact on service. I know, it sucks to admit and things can be done to prevent but every now and then the stars line up and it's a hectic day (more than usual).
Outright lying (some carriers do this occasionally, some as a business practice)... I'm not sure what to say about that except it's better to not take an order and be honest about your capacity than it is to book 110%-125% of your capacity and know that you will have to let a portion of your customers down. Those that you let down eventually will stop calling you. Saying no now to a little bit of business actually strengthens your long term relationships with your clients. They know if they call you and you take an order you will honour your word, if you are maxxed out they will realize they need to contact you with more notice. Just my 2 cents (sometimes worth 3 cents).
Keep well,
Mike
