Maisliner Transport - 137049 Canada Inc.

Just a follow up to my post on July 16th, we have received the cheque today for everything outstanding. The cheque was printed/dated on June 30th and the envelope was posted as July 16, 2015. It looks like it was taken care of right away like we were told.

Good to you.

I thought the hardest part is to sign the cheque, but apparently it's a mailing part....

Gord, I'm not poking fun at you ... I've been in your position, and it's not comfortable at all, but it still baffles me as to why carriers continue to take loads from iffy or relatively unknown load brokers in Quebec, and then wonder why they got screwed, if they even got paid at all.

Michael, Maisliner isn't "unknown"they've been around for thirty years and they have thier own trucks and thier credit is pretty good. Once someone shows us they can't be trusted we block them and never give them a chance to screw us twice.

There is a reason they have so much money.......because they use everyone else's money it's an old school way of doing business to not pay until you absolutely have too, but companies are not putting up with it anymore (and rightly so). They hold on to your money till you cut them off and they need you so they will pay but then hold you to 120 days on the next load. Could you imagine the money you would have in the bank if your customer paid you in 40 days and you did not pay anyone for 120 days?

I agree lowmiler 88; however, if you stretch your payments out like that you become the proverbial leper at the nudist beach.. once the word is out no one will touch you with a 10 foot pole.

We have dealt with them in the past and always been paid within 45 days. They also offer a quick pay program.

You're right, but that seems to be the way of the industry ... 2% to 7% for quick pay else they take 60 to 90 days to pay you.
It shouldn't be the way of the industry - almost every other service industry is paid the day of completion. Its a shame that we have allowed this to happen.

I sound like a broken record but if freight was sitting on docks, and trucks were in demand, more people would pay in a timely manner.

We have only ourselves (as an industry) to blame. In the days of horses and wagons, it was cash on the barrel head.

A little off-topic, but I have heard rumour that if you haul for Leon's or the Brick, freight that is on one of those don't pay for 18 month deals, the carrier doesn't get paid for 18 months ... any truth to that ???

Not true with Leon's or the Brick, who is owned by Leon's. The do not pay is through the banks and credit companies, who once the freight is delivered, the banks pay The Brick and Leon's right away, so if your contracted to deliver their freight you will get payed within the terms of your agreement. I believe 30 days is the norm.

I agree Popeye. The Brick and Leons both pay 30 days from receipt of invoice. The only pain is that each delivery has to have a separate invoice.

Furniture retailers for the most part tend to pay a little slow, even though they may agree to net 30 terms. In reality, they pay more in accordance to how well they are turning inventory. I've heard that their actual payment record is closer to 60 days.

83 Days and counting. After numerous emails and few calls, no reply until calling higher-ups, AP said check was mailed in November but( we never received) when ask her to put stop payment on that one and issue new check and we will send Fed-EX, story changed to that check was done in Nov, but forgot to mail.

I am having problems too, as they are 92 days and saying will do and nothing being done.

Would suggest you keep a close eye on them.

Maisliner deducted $300 for a late (according to them) LTL delivery in Washington state, six days after picking up in North Bay we delivered near Seattle (a few skids), they deducted $300 from an $800 invoice. We never dealt with them again.........we haven't missed them at all.

I am a supplier of maisliner as well. They owe me in the 4-figures back from June. 90+ doesnt fly. I dont know if their staff is incompetent or just stupid, but no one ever answers their phone, no one returns calls and no one returns emails. Today I had to speak with "JJ". He said he would look into my issue. I give them top notch service and I cant get paid. Not sure whats going on there, but I may just drop them. I dont like working for nothing. Thanks
