We are getting the run-arounds trying to collect from Maisliner Transport. I searched the forums and there is nothing posted on this company. Has anyone else had issues?

We are getting the regular, 'check is in the mail', 'out for signing', 'I'll look into it'. Two invoices over 100 days old.

We have never worked with them but our factoring company shows them at 80-100+ days to pay. Doesn't sound good.....
 
They have been around for years but we quit dealing with them because of slow payment.
 
They are very slow to pay. I did have a bad experience a couple years ago where I kept emailing A/P an invoice and kept calling and calling. After about 100 days I was told by A/P that they never received my invoice (they did believe me). I called and asked for the president. I can't remember her name now, but she replied right away. I explained that I did not appreciate them trying to blame me for the late payment. She did apologise and I did get payment right away after she got involved. Geez, I wish I could remember her name. Call and ask for someone high up like the president.
 
Hmmm. I know these guys ... funny how Link shows them at 95 on the scale. I do remember long ago when I was an operations manager at a carrier that they were slow payers back then too. But not 100 days slow ... I would have DNUd them if that was the case. The Masilins are good people.

YOU ARE CORRECT THEY ARE GOOD PEOPLE AND IF YOU SPEAK TO JJ HE WILL MAKE SURE YOU ARE TAKEN CARE OF
 
They deducted $300 from a $1,200 invoice because an ltl was a day late due to a legitimate truck breakdown on the way to Oregon. We didnt argue with them, we did make sure they never had a chance to screw us again....they are blocked.
 
You should sue them for the $300.00. It is illegal to contra an account. That's stealing your money. What they are perpetrating is a claim, and claims are handled as a separate transaction with its own rules of engagement.

We spoke to Chris in dispatch and left a message with JJ. JJ called back last evening and promised to look into this.

To summarize a bunch of emails, Mike Gravel got Alison Flood involved who asked Ivete Fukutani to look into it. Ivete sent an email stating that the check was being mailed today.

Thanks for the tip on getting JJ involved. This looks like it is moving forward. I'll keep you posted.

We had to agree to the deduction or they wouldn't pay us at all, our driver went an extra two hundred miles out of route and delivered thier freight on a Saturday and Maisliner still screwed us. Lots of trucksers bullshit about breakdowns but this was 100% legit, they had our drivers phone number, Maisliner even asked for the repair shops phone number which we supplied.
 
Gord, I'm not poking fun at you ... I've been in your position, and it's not comfortable at all, but it still baffles me as to why carriers continue to take loads from iffy or relatively unknown load brokers in Quebec, and then wonder why they got screwed, if they even got paid at all.

My guess is that there was something to this shipment that was expedite in nature, and they probably had to forfeit something given the service failure. It's not what I would have decided, just my thought. While Maisliner is not huge by any stretch, they're not fly by night or unknown ... I have customers that know them so it says something.

I have collected from Maisliner over the years. never had an issue once and they do offer immediate payments for a discount!
 
Maisliner has been around for decades and was formed not long after the very public demise of Maislin Transport. Although Maislin Transport is long gone, the principals (Al Maislin and family) are still very active in transportation and in the Montreal community. Although Maisliner itself is small, their owners are very well capitalized and I would guess are among Canada's top 50 wealthiest individuals. These aren't your typical truckers.. they go way back to the 40s and are among the sharpest of business people. They may be slow paying, but I would be very surprised to hear that they're in financial difficulty.
 
As a family I'm sure they are not in any trouble at all. However, that is by no means evidence that Maisliner is, or is not, healthy. Sharp business people know when to let a sick dog die.

Just a follow up to my post on July 16th, we have received the cheque today for everything outstanding. The cheque was printed/dated on June 30th and the envelope was posted as July 16, 2015. It looks like it was taken care of right away like we were told.
