I have to ask ... Is there any real value in LoadLink?

Can you reread what you wrote? We pay the monthly user fee for about 20 employees per month. Just because a few employees work in the states doesn't mean that we should pay a heft fine of $30k.
the US is NOT Canada - we share an international border and you need a passport to cross - sooo .... if in the US - it literally means 'not in canada' ....

Brother we are a Canadian company, that was a horrible comparison. As said previously a few of ours employees work in the states but the majority of them in Canada. Furthermore, a friend of mine got told by LL that they can use a virtual computer in Canada to be able to use LL's services. So I don't understand your point there Mr. Tasuinam.

WOW ... how does upper management justify a $360,000.00 a year expense like that?
For that kind of money you could literally hire 11-ish minimum wage workers and have them do nothing but cold calls all day long selling freight. In no time at all you would have established a network and could likely reduce that staff overhead burden by half.
TBH ... I can't even imagine how LL has the nerve to charge that much. That takes some pretty big cahonjes.

It was a one time payment of $30k so we just sucked it up.

It doesn't seem reasonable at all more like a "because we can" type situation. if you are in the states would it not be more beneficial and cost effective to use DAT as they posting cross-over?

Once we first stumbled upon that hurdle that LL faced us with. We tried using exclusively DAT. Honestly, we were struggling to close Canadian lanes; our constant carriers saved us pretty much whilst we were facing that issue.

I didn't really think of the Canada to Canada lanes which I'm guessing LL customers that don't have complete package won't be able to see as they are posted on DAT and don't cross over to the non us bundles.

What exactly was the fine for? there are so many brokers and carriers in Canada with offshore offices that arent even in north America.

whats crazy is though, DAT users get full access to lanes/Loads posted on LL. Go figure.

Uh anyone know how to sign up for DAT as a Canadian carrier, PM me if possible.
You cannot sign up for DAT unless you are based in the US. You would have to have the Platinum Package and that includes the DAT. Or you used to be able to add it seperately for $150 but that was many years ago when I worked there so not sure if that is still an option

So ... just thinking out loud here ... if you are an LL customer, then sign up up for DAT because you are an LL customer, what would happen if you quit LL after signing up for DAT?

I believe DAT does once over when your renewal comes up to make sure you are still with LL. If you are not active with LL I guess you lose your DAT access as well. At this point I will pay someone in the US to allow us to share their DAT account. Not sure if they have the same user/profile restrictions as LL but paying $700+ a month is getting ridiculous.

DAT is month to month, not sure how they would find out, but I think it better to keep these things on the low in case LL has some informants on here LOL

BTW has anyone noticed:

1. A lane is posted on LL by a reputable broker - and then it is covered- normal
2. The same lane is them posted by someone - new / not familiar and requires email only reply - posted for 20sec and disapperas
3. I know its the same lane cos' they send the exact same description and details as original broker

Now is this load going to be double brokered or it was not covered and shipper is shopping - which is happening more often than not
