I have to disagree. I believe that there are some very good results to be had by empowering your employees, including their ability to solve problems collectively. A company that restricts the decision making process to a handful of managers, will only be as good as that handful. I would be the first to agree that not every employee will respond positively, some people just aren't equipped to handle the additional freedom a "Musk" style affords them. However, from my own experience with our staff, allowing them to solve problems amongst themselves and having them realize that we are all in that "small boat rowing together in the same direction", has proven successful.
