CMX motor express

Cmx

My relative was an owner-operator over 10 years ago for Ken Campbell when he first started CMX. They were always difficult to work with, it was so difficult to get paid he almost had to beg the girl in accounting to get his check. He did an interstate load for them once because it was very difficult to get back to Canada in those days. It was an adventure to get paid back then with CMX and of course he quit after a few months of barelly surviving and not being able to make truck payments. I use to make the drive all the way from my home to Bowmanville to pick up the check and believe me it was always late and every excuse was used. Things have not changed over 10 years later they are still up to no good. The Campbell family owns CMX and their roots are in the irish enclave or Verdun, Quebec before they moved to the Toronto area. I can tell you they break every single rule in the book when it comes to everything in transportation, I would never ever ever trust anyone from this company or any Campbell in the trucking industry and that includes his son Don up the road in Bowmanville running Maximum Logistics. Better communication is needed to expose what these guys are up to.

Remember they will NOT pay you and there's no doubt the freight was double brokered. I dont want to see any more truckers get screwed by the Campbell clan in Bowmanville, please spread the word about this unethical company.
We work damn hard for our money and risks our lives on the road every single day to earn just enough money to support our families. It is despicable that the Campbell Clan is still around doing the same over and over again.

I would like to add that if loadlink allows a company like CMX to use their database with full knowledge of the problems then Loadlink is also part of the problem.

my load was picked up and delivered in canada, i have no way of knowing if this was double brokered do I?? any Suggestions

Get copies of all paperwork. Speak to the shipper and receiver and see how much they remember. Hopefully someone will know the name on the side of the truck or trailer number. Our drivers always sign their name with our company name...maybe you will be lucky.
I recommend dealing with the drivers whenever possible. Get cell phone numbers and call them. Most drivers will give you the info that some dispatchers won't. Aslo, advise your shipper the carrier that will be picking up the freight.

Thank you for the background information MontrealTrucker. Yes, it seems things have not changed. The person I have been told is in charge there is "Drew". No last name given.

As for the Link. I have spoken to them a couple times now in regards to CMX. Last they told me was that CMX had three active complaints against them for non-payment, and was told that Drew at CMX had mailed my cheque as of Wednesday this week. Also, today Drew faxed me a copy of the cheque he says was mailed yesterday. Nice to have a picture of the cheque but how about getting the real thing??

Link told me to keep in contact with them if I do not receive cheque soon. I guess it takes quite a bit of bullshit to actually get someone suspended on the Link. Oh well, I am grateful for the actions of the Link anyway, this company was completely out of communication for several weeks, until the Link got in contact with them. So, the Link has been helpful.

I'll give you 3 guesses as to Drew's last name, the first 2 guesses don't count....Drew Campbell. I used them on loads twice now. The first was a no brainer get 'em home for Friday load. The second was their last...It took their "team" 7 days to run 2800 miles.... The driver admitted to the consignee he was a single. W originally were paying for a team, when we found out we cut the rate to reflect a single. The Turkeys are trying to invoice us through a factoring company at the original amount. They are crooked...DNU!!!!!!

Update!

I finally received a cheque from CMX today by courier. Drew had one of his office girls call me to make sure I received it. It only took 9 weeks, phone calls and emails to their customer, a small claims suit, and the Load Link threatening to suspend their account!!

I have to say, for others in the same situation, GO TO THE LINK! I took many actions on my own with no result, but when the Link called them twice in one week, they quickly decided they would have to pay or be shutdown.

THANK YOU LINK LOGISTICS!

Godfather, I have run into the "Pay our factoring company" scam when people have screwed me on loads and were afraid about being paid. I made a call to the factoring company to make it very clear what happened and explained the full circumstances, they were understanding. These types will send info to your credit file if you do not give them information about why you are not paying, so it's best to just keep them in the loop. Also helps them know the type of company they are factoring invoices for.

Thanks to all for suggestions and comments.

Anybody else out there still waiting for money from CMX?

In reference to my last post...

If you are having trouble with any company on the Load Link, you should send email to complaints@linklogi.com

They tell me if they get 3 complaints they will suspend a company's account.

I'm sure the threat of this suspension to CMX is what got me paid in the end.
