I'm sorry...IMO G Rock et al is not the problem.
Carriers that take the freight are the problem. How can you blame a customer for wanting spot freight done as cheaply as he can get it...so long as service doesn't matter?
We've all taken freight cheaper than we wanted to...trucks gotta leave and you have room left, so you take it. With the aforementioned load of paint, if there is a guy that thinks that will work for him, why is it G Roch's problem? Just expect the quality of service that corresponds to the quality of rate.
We are in a free market with too much capacity still. It drives me nuts how cheap some of this junk is too, but hey, if they get it moved, who's the fool?
I don't know G Roch, and I don't think I've done any work with them, but if their customer is happy using a cut rate carrier and getting iffy service, rock on...
My giggles come when a broker asks for a rate and you give it, but they have rates half of mine. Oddly enough, the cheap rate trucker has no availability, but they think you will do it for his rate.
