A warning to carriers and brokers: do your homework before moving freight for Masab Logistics.

We are sharing this because other carriers in the transportation industry should be aware of an experience we had with Masab Logistics.

The load was booked and the agreed rate was confirmed. The carrier picked up the shipment and the freight was in their possession.

Then came the surprise.

After pickup, we were asked for substantially more money to complete the delivery. In other words, the rate that was agreed upon when the load was booked was no longer enough once the freight had already been picked up.

That puts a carrier in a very difficult position.

You already have freight moving. The customer expects delivery. The truck is committed. And suddenly you're dealing with a completely different price.

It's a little like ordering a taxi, getting halfway to your destination, and having the driver say, “By the way, the fare is now double.”

Not exactly the transportation business model anyone signed up for.

The payment arrangement also raised concerns

During our dealings, we were told that e-transfer was the only payment method available.

Again, an e-transfer by itself isn't automatically a problem. But when combined with a request for substantially more money after the freight has already been picked up, it becomes something carriers should carefully investigate before proceeding.

Why we're sharing this

We're not asking anyone to simply take our word for it.

We're saying do your own due diligence.

Before accepting a load, carriers should verify:

  • The agreed rate in writing
  • Who is actually paying the carrier
  • Payment terms and method
  • The broker/carrier's authority and insurance
  • The company's operating information
  • What happens if the rate changes after pickup
  • Who is responsible for the freight if a dispute occurs
Because once the freight is on your truck, your negotiating position can change very quickly.

Our experience

Based on our experience, we would be extremely cautious about accepting freight from Masab Logistics without having every detail confirmed in writing before pickup.

If you're considering doing business with them, ask questions before the truck picks up, not after.

And keep every rate confirmation, email, text message, payment request, and other documentation.

In trucking, the cheapest load isn't always the cheapest load.

Sometimes the real lesson comes after pickup — when the original rate suddenly becomes “Version 1.0.”

Yes, I see that their authorities are out of service and their Ontario CVOR has expired. I’m just wondering how they’re still operating. How is MTO allowing them to continue operating without putting them out of service?

They keep taking loads and operating despite the risk, which is concerning.

There is a person named Noman with Masab Logistics who appears to be working out of India. The owner listed is Masab Umaer. I also tried reaching them at another number, 450-700-4005, but that number appears to be out of service according to the company information.

There are several red flags here, and the company does not appear to be operating transparently. All carriers should be cautious and do their due diligence before accepting loads from them.

Are you double brokering out freight to carriers with no authorities to even be operating ?

I feel bad for your customer.
Why do you assume every shipment involving another carrier is double brokering?

A lot of customers prefer working directly with carriers because it gives them better communication, fewer layers, and more competitive rates. I handle a significant amount of LTL freight from Montreal to the West Coast. For some shipments, I use established carriers to move LTL freight from Montreal to my dock in Brampton, where it is consolidated and handled for the final movement.

That is logistics, not automatically double brokering.

If you have a specific concern about a shipment, address the actual facts instead of making assumptions. I’m comfortable standing behind how I operate and how I handle my customers’ freight.

I would suggest getting the facts before making accusations.

Looks like Masab Logistics with
MC# 1468226
CVOR# 210-444-553
has officially left the building.

Their operating authority and CVOR are now showing as out of service. From what I found publicly, the reason listed is “Refusal of Audit.”

That certainly raises questions, especially considering my recent experience with them.

They picked up a load for an agreed price, and before delivery, they stopped communicating and demanded an additional $1,500 by e-transfer before releasing the shipment.

Maybe it’s just a coincidence. Maybe it’s their new business model. Either way, customers and brokers should probably think twice before handing them freight.

When a company’s authority is out of service and customers are being asked for unexpected extra money at delivery, that’s not exactly a great advertisement for reliability or customer service.

We are active intra canadian carrier and do not currently work in cross border so is the reason of inactive MC number.

*******Complete story for who dont know the other side of picture before making any conclusive decision*******

We hauled this load for this company name Alpha rover trasnsport. It was from Montreal to Toronto and it was 53 feet reefer load. This carrier Alpha Rover was trying to cross dock in Brampton so they can take this load to USA. Next morning they had appointment for 8am for offloading at cross dock but there driver didn't showed up and my driver waited for 4 to 5 hours and these guys were not responding on offloading.

They said they will pay $150 to hold trailer till next day 11am. We dont have spare trailers so holding trailer means driver is on hold and cant get back to work. We had to cancel his next shipment and next day till 11am he had to wait just to get offloaded. Despite requested several times to get offloaded they didn't cooperate neither they answered calls of my dispatcher leaving us stranded with load.

Finally I advise them that it will be $50/hr after 2 hours which is pretty much standard as everyone who runs reefer knows its hefty to run reefer operations also costing driver hold etc. They had many hours amd could have arranged there storage which they didn't.

Basically they knew load will not be delivered at 8am but tried taking advantage of my trailer and driver for storage purposes intentionally.

Thes guys denied that they wont pay requested $50/hr after 2hr which forced us to take payment before delivering a load they kept on calling and texting and threatening that they will involve other parties to resolve issue. As they dont have any credit score we didn't risked being unpaid.

At the end they end up paying and we delivered load right away.

Asking to get paid fairly means they want to come online and throw wrong allegations seems totally unacceptable.

We have been working intra Canada for last 5 years and known to be reliable and trustworthy carrier. If any broker or carrier who read this post will confirm that we do what we say and believe in trust and honesty more than anything.

All too often readers here are left with one one side to a story/situation which always favors the original poster. In this case we can see there's some additional details that were relevant to the shipment.

Good for you Masab Logistics for sharing your side of this story, it helps us understand the gravity of the situation and what actually happened. It's never a win-win when a shipment goes sideways, usually everyone suffers in some way. Here's hoping that the renumeration was fair for the services rendered. Surely a carrier would treat accessorial charges for another carrier in the same manner they would want to be compensated if it were their truck and driver.

Keep well,
Mike

I guess I just assumed Alpha Rover was up to the same old tricks as they were in Roll-X and Roll X Freight....

It's a little like ordering a taxi, getting halfway to your destination, and having the driver say, “By the way, the fare is now double.”

Sorry, bud, but if you want your taxi to wait around for you, they charge waiting time as well. It's surprising how you withheld enough information to make the situation seem more favorable for you.
