Here's another company posting double brokered loads on Loadlink. They're in Dorval, QC , clearly someone left the door open, looks like they're multiplying like sewer rats!

Please confirm if you are or are not speaking of:
Andy Transport Inc.
400 Michel Jasmin
Suite 800
Dorval QC
H9P 1C1
Phone - 1-514-420-0444

I like to tread lightly when there are similar names of companies (and similar locations too).

Thank you for your update,

Mike

Unsure of their mailing address but the listed phone number is 514-420-0196. Richard Guilbault is the contact. They have no authority specified on loadlink with the exception of a Quebec NIR # of 6-M-32685-I. I had never heard of them before but suddenly noticed them lately showing freight from alternative load boards being posted on loadlink.

Hopefully there's another explanation. They've done a few loads for us this year and I looked at the back-up documents on all, all have the CDocs with Andy Transport PARS attached ... so they didn't double broker ours.

We haven't had any problems with them.

Hi there, I've reviewed the business we've done with Andy Transport and all checks out too, not to mention the service level I'm accustomed to is as close to perfection as I could ever ask for. One shipment was a large miracle, see my posting under "SP Freight Systems" for the one I'm talking about.

Andy Transport has a newer 3rd party division that opened up recently (Andy Logistics), this does not set off alarms to me as many carriers have both an asset based and 3pl arm (yet)...

As such I would only offer this advice - when booking be sure that you are giving freight to Andy Transport (and that your shipper/receiver note the correct equipment on site as they should for ALL SHIPMENTS to protect us all from those who would deceive us) and if you are hauling that you are taking freight from the broker 3pl arm (Andy Logistics).

I hope that Andy Transport continues to focus on the carrier side of things because I intend to employ their services regularly.

I'll be certain to update if I see any changes...

Keep well,

Mike

Double brokering

I would find out the name of the new employee in the brokerage division.
As I have said earlier, most if not all of Rockman's staff has gone on to other carriers such as Intermark and Orsa Maggiore and such. Most of these carriers have dealt quite a bit with Rockman in the past and these ex staff memebres had close dealings with these carriers and a relationship developed.

These employees had access to Rockman's customer base and are now finding new homes where they can ply their trade.

I have taken two loads from ex Rockman employees over the last two weeks.
Every one of these loads come from Offshoot brokerage divisions recently set up by carriers. I simply ask the dispatcher where he worked before and so far all have admitted their link to Rockman.

I am very careful with these new clients, I suggest you all be as well!!!

I'd say the carriers hiring the ex-Rockman agents are pretty smart. They end up gaining good dispatchers/inside sales people with connections ...

It's not the employees fault that Rockman did what it did ... I suspect they were getting paid better at Rockman than they would at a carrier too.

some people just don't get it

Andy Logistic took a load from Conway and then brokered it to us Conway had a bird when they found out I faxed them the sheet I got from Andy and Conway now has Andy on the DNU list

Ah,

I would have had 'a bird' too! I hope you were abe to come to an agreement with Conway and keep the business between you.

Thank you for the details you offer, have a great evening.

The man

I must digress.

The problem here is that we do not know the financial integrity of these companies.

Is there anyone in these companies that is verifying the veracity of the loads being brokered. Once the monies start flowing in, it is easy to look the other way and let a little double brokerage slide. Then, when the money is real good, what becomes the next step???

It is possible that the owners of these new companies do not know the full details of how each load is obtained.
On the other hand, management may know full well what is going on and full heartidly endorse the practice.

My main concern here is why open another company for brokerage if you are already a transport company and have the right to carry out this task?

A company is only as good as the integrity and honesty of the people who run it and work there. Most trucking companies and brokers micromanage orders one by one, checking for opportunities to make money - mostly, whether it makes sense to go on the truck or sell it to someone else. I don't know any manager or owner who doesn't walk into dispatch and talk about an order they see in the system and not be aware of margin. Any company that double-brokers cannot say someone didn't know or have management claim ignorance about where the load came from or who they assign it to, especially when they know the freight is not riding on one piece of their equipment. They're all accountable. "Andy Transport" vs "Andy Logistics" is no different than what other carriers do, except that the good ones know better than to accept freight that they can't move, knowing they will get caught and jeopardize the client relationship. Handing freight off to an agent for pickup and/or delivery without your consent is kind of a grey area. The first warning sign should be when someone tells you to identify as yet a completely different transport company on pickup or delivery, unless it is a blind shipment.

I'll keep an eye out. We don't use them much but all I saw was that every load they did for us was OK ... and we have an on-line POD system so when I checked yestereday all the CDocs had Andy Transport PARS on them. But obviously they were caught, and I too take it very seriously. It's not so much a matter of margin ... I let operations do what they need to. But when a load is double brokered, more often than not someone gets pissed off and I get in the middle of it. It's a total waste of my time and I end up having to dance for my customers when it happens, and in some cases I lose them.

That's why (hidden message) I don't care if you pay your bills quickly or not, wrong is wrong...

Increase in volume

There is a big increase in the volume of loads being posted by Andy Logistic this week on link. Keep an eye out, almost every posting has its roots from an alternative load board.

Andy Transport has many trucks, they are now on Ryan Ave in Dorval. My company works very closely with them and has never had a problem.

I am not disputing the fact this company has trucks. The issue is with their "logistics" company and more particularly EXT 222, this individual appears have a different point of view about double brokering then most of us here.

Double brokering is an unethical practice that must be stopped before more truckers get screwed for payment. Inside Transport gives us the tools to identify the problems out there and share it with others. With all the carriers that lost $$ with Rockman just across the highway from Andy, word needs to get out.

noproblembuddy had a posting 09-14-2010, 08:27 PM on this thread, I couldn't agree more with his posting.

Ext 222

I would be interested in finding out the last place of employment of the person @ ext 222.

Bets on that he worked just a little further up the road (1/2 mile in a straight line) on Cote de Liesse Road @ Rockman Companies!!!

This post seems to be going both ways. I think it's only fair to defend a carrier when they do a good job.
I have been dealing with Andy Transport since 2007. Always done a great job for me and have helped me out many times when I've been in a jam. That being said,They never had a logistics side and also they were always a FTL carrier. I notice a lot of the postings now looking for LTL.
Just my 2 cents..
