Aarthick Transport

Same type of bad experience here as well. Picked up a QC-ON Ltl on a Friday for Monday delivery. On Monday the trk was supposedly at the delivery, driver not answering his cell etc etc.. Than oops driver took the wrong trailer. Set up delivery for Tuesday, driver is enroute to the delivery, should be there, 5 minutes away etc etc... Than oops we forgot it on our dock. Needless to say I sent another company to pick up and deliver the freight. But like Mike said something has changed just in the past their service wasn't like this.

WOW!!!! The told us the same thing!!! exactly like that!! What a bunch of loosers....

If you really want to see their operation - they share the same facility as Galaxy Freight down at 41 Westside in Etobicoke. It is a run down dilapidated building with all kinds of junk truck and trailers surrounding the compound.

Run down offices that look like they have been ransacked. I had to go collect a bill at Galaxy freight - I feared for my safety.

How do you say "ghetto"

Ahh the old Northbound operation!

Pretty sad. Most Galaxy posts read the same as Aarthik's. It is too bad, Aarthik did a good job for us last month too. What a difference a day makes, but I won't give them the opportunity to prove themselves in the future. Late deliveries happen, but outright lies, apparently as a new company policy, get you booted from quality relationships in this industry pretty quickly.

I Have used them in the past. Sometimes they did ok. Sometimes they did not. Gave them a try on a rush order from Trois Rivieres on Friday that had to deliver Saturday. Offered extra money to go out to Trois Rivieres from Montreal. They were good to go Thursday night. Good to go per dispatch, Friday AM, Good to go at 1:00PM when we double checked. At 2:42 the truck amazingly broke down and they could not do it. We had to scramble to get it covered another way. They are now on our DNU list.

I understand there has been a large 're-org' over at Aarthick. My fingers are crossed that they will now offer the service level that I was accustomed to prior to October this year (amazing work, after hours communicaiton, on time, etc...).

I'm giving them an opportunity to redeem themselves - both pickups complete as promised, will see what happens on Monday morning...

I hope Monday morning is a good morning and I'm not hammering this keyboard...

Happy Friday,

Mike

This is the Ed referred to in the earlier post. I know things were a mess after I left and it is taking me time to get things back up to speed here since I came back.

If anybody knows me personaly or has worked with me they know I am as upset as you are at any service failures. I will continue working to improve our record and hopefully will get back your confidence in us.

The phone issue is something I am working with the owners on. In the meantime my cell # is 416-605-1264.

On a side note does anybody know any experienced dispatchers? I need some help.

This company is screwed up!

Asked for a flatbed, they sent in a van... Then their driver knocks over a fence post causing several thousand dollars in damage. Their driver admits to the damage and signs a statement as such at the damage site.

The property owner tried for months to get Aarthick to pay for the damages with no results. They say the driver left and they don't have any information... Apparently they didn't notice the damage to their truck... We are dealing with Sherry at Aarthick, she seems to be very disorganised as she does not even know what trucks her drivers are in, or pretends so...

Apparently they also didn't keep track of which truck is driven by which driver on which day... or so they say, conveniently... Tried to claim through their insurance company, which is State Farm through a broker named Jeff Wright. They claim they cannot process a claim because their insured is not sure which of their trucks was involved. Also, mentioned that although over 100 trucks insured (according to Jeff Wright), they are not on a blanket fleet policy... According to Jeff Wright they insure each truck individually and it is possible that the truck involved was not even insured.

Not worth the risk... A very confused trucking company, and it appears willingly so, an equally confused insurance company.

They "Are" "Thick" !

How is this company has over 100 trucks yet I have not seen any on the road? Since when did State Farm insure trucks? How would any insurance company allow a trucking company to insure trucks individually and not as a group? I would get your insurance company involved or at least your agent (ours does a lot for us without involving the insurance company) because something is just not right here?

My understanding is no insurance company works direct with transport company's only through brokers. And if they are a cross border carrier there is Jevco, Markel and.....and...can't think of the third sorry. My sources tell me that this outfit doesnt have anywhere near 100 trucks.

Identification of the driver

Was there an invoice given by the carrier for the miss handled pick up?

If not, you have the signed document by the driver.

Send the carrier a letter of intent for the damages. They will have to reply.

The insurance company argument is most likely bull. I doubt a fence post and some fencing will be above the amount of the deductible of $5000.00 or most unlikely $2500.00. That pays for alot of fence!!

As for insurance companies, there are lots of variations on the type of deal one has.

I once worked for a carrier that was insured by LLoyds of London, the rate was based on revenue, as a percentage.
After yet another accident by the owner's brother, LLoyd's would no longer insure.

When looking for alternatives, we were really stuck because our insurance broker had not mentioned that LLoyds was an insurer of last resort.

Through lots of negotiation we managed to get Kingsway to insure.

The best insurance company out there is most likely ZURICH.

Chica123, yeah the logbooks would be great, but this company is not providing anything, and if they actually do not know which truck their driver was driving, I'm guessing they can't remember where they put his logs either... Oh, and I have the driver's home phone number, but when I called him he had a very strong accent, and claimed not to understand anything I said...

Still not sure about the 100 trucks claim that his insurance broker made, but I have spoken to State Farm and they have confirmed that they do insure "some" of Aarthick's trucks, but they claim that "some" of their other trucks are insured by another insurance company. First time I have ever heard of something like that...

Alx, we have sent the carrier plenty of information, by mail, email, and fax, and I have called them numerous times. Their story is the same everytime, we don't know which truck was involved in this accident so we can't do anything about it. I am guessing they have done this before and were successful at it, so are trying again... The name of the game is confusion... I do have a bill for the work done on the fence, and I guess he really destroyed it. They had to remove a gate, post, and several sections of fence, and then it all had to be replaced. And of course, this is not a little 4foot fence like people have in their backyards.

If anyone is doing business with this company, make sure you get their certificate of insurance and look it over well. The insurance info they gave me indicated only State Farm, no other insurance company. Make sure you have a valid certificate for the actual truck and trailer that are hauling the load. It might not hurt to call State Farm with the certificate in hand to make sure the equipment being used is insured by them.

I imagine the shipper would be the one to have to take this company to court over the cost of the damage. I don't think a judge would be interested in whether or not they know which truck caused the damage. They would be responsible for the damage.

Alternatively, doesn't no fault insurance come into play here? If the shipper files a claim with their insurance, then the insurance companies have to fight over who ultimately pays but it should not reflect in the shipper's premiums.

We put a claim in our insurance when a shipper tore off the roof of our trailer during the loading because I wanted to be sure I would get payment for the damage. The shipper did not want to go through their insurance and promised me payment, but I felt going through my insurance would make life easier for me. In turn, my insurance billed the shipper directly and avoided claiming on their insurance policy. This fell under no fault and did not affect my policy nor my premiums. This is just my own personal experience...I'm sure other people have different ideas out there! :0)

But what a strange, strange situation. I don't think Aarthick is confused at all according to the way you have presented the situation.
Oh and one more thing. State Farm insures our 2 pick up trucks under the business policy, but as far as I know they don't insure tractor trailers. Just my 2 cents.

Letter of intent

I would not put much more effort into this.

Send a letter of intent stating that you are claiming for the repairs and you need to have the insurance information regarding that truck.

Find out who deals with carrier compliance at the Ontario DOT and CC a copy of the letter to them.

I doubt they would admit that they have no record of insurance to the DOT.

I know I would not want to open that can of worms if I was as disorganized as them.

I just remembered (getting old) we called MTO with the same kind of incident, a company was being shady about insurance and the MTO takes it very seriously and will go to their offices today.

That usually gets their attention big time. All of sudden they had insurance and got us a cheque right away. Call MTO enforcement - they get really excited and you will see action quickly. Wow it sucks getting old.
