Scotlynn Commodities

The fun really starts when the load is double brokered to an unqualified carrier. Back 2002 I booked a Macon, GA to Danbury, CT with someone who I thought was legit. Unknown to me, that carrier subsequently rebrokered the load out to a carrier from Saint Hubert, QC.. Not long into his trip he got stopped for inter stating, and the truck and load were seized. That didn't end very well at all which is why I now always tell my customer who I'm sending in to load, and if its someone else comes in for the load I need to know about it before anything goes on the truck.

I say there needs to be a movie made about this and hostage loads and road rage etc... how is there not a movie already... I would want:
Lead actor - Jonny Depp
Dispatcher - Charlize Theron
Broker - Al Pacino

Like a pirates of the Caribbean but OTR
I would throw De Niro in as the double brokerer, and Pacino as the Broker and recreate the diner scene from Heat

NEIL
I do what I do best. I take
scores. You do what you do best
trying to stop guys like me.
(shrugs)
HANNA
You never wanted a normal-type
life?
NEIL
What the f*ck is that? Barbecues
and ballgames?
HANNA
That's part of it.
NEIL
That's nice. That your life?
HANNA
No. My wife spends half her
time on the couch. My
stepdaughter's got problems 'cause
her real father's a world class
asshole. And every moment I
got, I'm chasing guys like you.
NEIL
A man told me once: you want to
make moves? Don't keep anything
in your life you're not willing
to walk out on in 30 seconds
flat if you feel the heat around
the corner.
(pause)
So if you're chasing me and you
gotta move when I move, how do
you expect to keep a family?
HANNA
What are you, a monk?
NEIL
No.
(pause)
I got a woman.
HANNA
What do you tell her?
NEIL
She thinks I sell swimming pools.
HANNA
And if you spot me around the
corner. You gonna walk out on
her? Leave her flat? Like that?
Not even say goodbye?
NEIL
That's the discipline.
HANNA
What you're left with is pretty
empty.
NEIL
Yeah?
(beat)
Then maybe you and me, we should
both go do somethin' else, pal.
HANNA
I don't know how to do anything
else.
NEIL
(the shared
confession)
...neither do I.
HANNA
And I don't much want to.
NEIL
Neither do I. Both of these guys look at each other and recognize the
mutuality of their condition. Hanna's light laughter:
HANNA
We're sitting here like a coupla
regular fellas. You do what you
do. I do what I gotta do. What
happens if I am there and I got
to put you away?
(pause)
I won't like it. But, if it's
between you and some poor bastard
whose wife you're going to make
into a widow, brother, you are
gonna go down. 'Cause you don't
have to be there. You coulda
gone and been a... a mailman.
NEIL
There's a flip side to that coin.
What if you got me boxed in and
I gotta put you down?
(beat)
'Cause no matter what, you will
not get in my way.
(beat)
But now that we been face to
face, I would not feel good about
that. But I won't hesitate.
Not for one second.
HANNA
(smiles)
Maybe it'll happen that way. Or
who knows ...
NEIL
...maybe we'll never see each
other again. They look at each other for a moment. Neil's wry smile.
HANNA
(to waitress)
Can we have the bill.

A lot of these produce carriers do this all the time. They have a arsenal of 1 and 2 truck fleets that haul for them and they will book loads to move these guys around. Veri Farms was famous for this back in the day.

It's unfortunate that the truck broke down but I think your load will deliver and that carrier will be paid.

The fact that they were less than transparent about who would be doing the work is wrong and unprofessional.
Veri fresh! thats going back a while !

I wonder if they double brokered my load of plants from Miami to Walmart Dc with 1am delivery appt for 1800 cad
You should both be ashamed them for taking it and you for even offering something so cheap. I would be headed north if i am coming out of Florida that cheap headed for GA NC SC same rate and why drag the load the extra miles.

No I shouldn't. Firstly this was 2 plus years ago. Secondly nobody was holding a gun to their head and they were begging me for the load. They even named their rate!

My dad use to work for them when he first started out.. the truck broker...went bankrupt and my dad had to go to court to claim his money...and this company had to pay since it was under their authority

You just need to find out who has original signed pod and that's who gets paid in this case, it would be Bion and they are a good company. I've worked with them for years

Another case here
Moved there load last week, girl in office put 10am Walmart delivery instead of 8am . We found out at 8am when he called to confirm the truck. We reached 930am somehow. Delivered the load and now fined us $2000 with no explanation JUST WALMART LATE DELIVERY FINE. is this for real !!

I would pay Scotlynn as that's who you hired to run the load. Your paperwork and communication trail leads back to Scotlynn... nothing from you leads to Bion. Thus if you pay Bion you might open yourself up to problems from Scotlynn as they come looking for their payment. Also, if you pay Bion you've implicitly assumed the risk of doing business with them.. their breakdown and delay resulted in a problem with the load?.. ie.e. damaged product or a shortfall..? By paying them you've de facto accepted them as the carrier on this load and you've absolved Scotlynn of all responsibility. This could be catastrophic if it turns out that Bion's insurance has lapsed or is insufficient. Probably your best course of action would have been to jump on this when your customer called. At that point you could have vetted Bion first before giving the shipper the green light to load them. Been there done that.. had a load double brokered to a carrier who wasn't qualified.. luckily nothing went sideways.
LMAO so now its OK to pay someone who double brokered the load and not consider it scummy practice
Because scottlyn is a big dawg we overlook it? Smere their name like you guys do with EVERY SMALL CARRIER
