Schroeder Freight - Bankruptcy

Yes, they can "easily seek" payment from shippers, but collecting may not be so easy.

Just curious on knowing more from those on this thread that have ever contacted shippers. How many times have you gone this route, how difficult is it and what percentage have you recovered?

We have done it a few times, sometimes successful sometimes not, you really have to push because they blow you off saying they have already paid. It's simple to do but it takes as many or more phone conversations to get it to happen and if you are not willing to follow through legally then it will not work.

Only been successful if there was freight on board that wasn't delivered yet ... at least recently. I had a customer here go bankrupt maybe 12 years ago or so and they were supplying Rubbermaid and we got paid from them ... but I don't know if the same thing would work yet.

We received a letter today dated Jan 18th that they have extended the time within which SFI may file a proposal to creditors to March 1 2017
no luck for now, the proposal to creditors should be made 10 days before March 1st, 2017, following the filing of the proposal, a meeting will be (should be) held 21 days after, which may including voting letter forms.
that is how we understand the matter in its current state

I see Schroeder Freight posting trucks again....or maybe they have been all along and I missed it?

They have been emailing truck availability lists daily for weeks, as is nothing is amiss.

You have to love this business - the only thing is I think you are guaranteed payment for any work after they go into protection but I would check to make sure.

Not sure I'd use the word guaranteed, but all post-filing obligations should be paid if sufficient financing is in place.

Ironically I passed a Shroeder Transport Truck last night. It was a pulling a Flatdeck and the logo and truck did not look like the Shroeder Freight that this thread is about. Not sure how much that helps...but thought it was interesting none the less!
