I guess you're ok with Highway taking all your pickup/delivery locations and selling those GPS positions along with AI generated leads for the address at that GPS position.
Soon you'll be creating a post asking why you've lost your customers or why your broker customers have lost their customers to some other huge brokerage.

Just think of it this way, you go to your direct customer every day for pickup - Highway knows about it. A broker sends 10 different carriers each week for 10 weekly delivery and Highway knows they are a higher volume receiver. That information is gold to CH Robinson and TQL.

Don't share this data for free - not every one of your ELDs, 24/7, 365/yr. One truck , under one load, for a customer maybe, but not carte blanche, every single ping of your whole fleet for purpetuety. With AI, the reach is indefinite and since the carrier does not pay Highway for extracting your data there is no limit to what Highway can do with this data collected and assimilated.

I share the same sentiment, I guess the good thing is highway is only needed with the "broker" freight that we do, which is vin specific, for each load that we do. That being said I agree not having control on that data is concerning. On the flipside we do a pretty good job with keeping our brokers informed on tracking and tracing but hey if they want to see a green triangle moving on a map I'm not worried about it, in fact it puts them at ease and they know we are not messing around.

As far as customers being lost, at the end of the day, we are in a service industry! If i cant bring value to the table to keep them long term, then hey they are free to shop around, just like we do with repair mechanics, fuel vendors etc. Its funny trucking is now like selling umbrellas in the Sahara, everyone offers pretty much the same thing and you just hope to be the one that gets picked, when there's a light drizzle.

I don't think you understand. Highway doesn't just track that one brokered load. They collect EVERY ping, EVERY crumb of data for EVERY piece of equipment that Motive generates under your account. Each and every truck that stops at your OWN customers or the customers of the brokers you haul for is now their information. They are effectively collecting addresses and volume for each shipper in Canada and the US.

Soon brokers will understand that every carrier they use that has HIGHWAY ELD authorized is a leak of their precious customer data. Now, how do you prove that you are not with Highway ELD.?

Yes they must have personal ID with out any cover ups. Which means Go Highway would have your personal home address . Not cool. many carrier refusing to do set ups with Go Highway as it is an invasion of privacy.

It is determined by broker requirement. If the broker demands it, HIGHWAY will request it. (Same as ELD).

Our staff has had lots of issues with the collection of the personal address off of their of DK. One went so far as to use a post-it to block their personal address and HIGHWAY refused connection. I called their security department to be told that if their customer requires it, the carrier will not be allowed to proceed without providing it. I asked what they do with the data - they provide it to the person requesting it. I told them that they may be acting in contravention to PIPEDA laws in Canada - they said they are a 'MERICAN' company doing business in USA and not required to comply with Canadian laws. Basically, if you have issue with it, take it up with the broker or don't proceed.

IMO, HIGHWAY offers a service and method that brokers want but have no assurances about the destination or safeguarding of data they collect. To top it off, the US government has not come up with laws to protect the collection and sale of sensitive data. Brokers should be ashamed that they are demanding the collection of this information.
