I work in a building that has a few different trucking companies. I have spoken to a couple of them and many people seem unhappy with their services and prices. The prices seem to be increasing all the time and the other day I was without service for a full day. I cannot find any other decent load board. Load Link seems to be the only one available for me. Does anyone have any comments or suggestions?

Welcome to the world of transportation, dominated here in Canada at least, by Load Link. There have been numerous other boards who have attempted to gain a foothold, without much success. The problem is, they are all selling the exact same products, trucks and loads. No one has a secret stash of available trucks, or an untapped source of available loads. Sure, they can dress up the service with a variety of different options and add ons, but at the end of the day, it is the same trucks and the same loads being posted, regardless of whose board it is. Perhaps Load Link will reach a breaking point with their customers and their pricing structure, but until then, they remain the major player.

Part of the reason other load boards do not succeed it that there is a lack of participation. Many complain about Link but also will not sign up (for free) to an alternate platform. There is no magical company that is going to pop up over night to give Link immediate competition but if we support a growing option, maybe one of them could gain a foot-hold.

Pick up the Phone LOL Load Link is a costly service its nice to have but do you really need it if you do then do not complain about it fix it or don't use it. I mean I agree with most of what people are saying but no one makes you sign up for these things. It is too bad that when you sign up you can not invoice them for lost days of work because their network is down but hey its a service pay for it or don't. I used to have to dispatch with a fax machine and a real telephone load link does your job for you so i guess paying for it saves you time and money no? Carrier Pigeon for dispatching is long gone for sure

@Mike C can advise on Load Fusion
Thanks! Yes, we are in the final process of handling some great user feedback, those of you here know who you are and we thank you greatly(!), and will have a new version out VERY soon. Our main goals from the feedback handling were simplicity without losing the trust factor. On that note, we are working have our platform as a trust platform with a load board. Its the bedrock of what we are doing.

How does one sign up?

HAMMER SQUARE ON NAIL!! And it is just that, participation from both carriers and brokers is needed. I'ev seen quite a few boards that have alot of brokers and not alot of carriers or vice versa. Strip away all the bells and whistles and this is what it really boils down too.

This is the problem with innovation and when the first-mover gets market dominance. For a competitor to come up with a better load board and get market share to beat something like Load Link, they have to go for price leadership versus Link's value leadership. Link charges what it does because it can (monopoly). But they suck at a few things, like not being able to block scammers that use DAT when they are blocked on Link. So a competitor needs a tech solution and make it work on both sides of the border. Only vetted carriers to keep the "corporation in a desk drawer" guys from using it, so they need a compliance team. And there's way better web application programming these days than the way Link does things, which is pretty proprietary. To get more users, the cost of switching has to be worth it. Nobody wants to get an invite to a party and find the ballroom empty.
