Good day all,

I'm sure this question is beat to death, but what TMS are you using and which TMS do you prefer? We are looking to switch from our current provider (Tailwind) and go to something more streamlined and user-friendly for 50-ish Power units. Please feel free to share your experience.

for 50 plus .. consider Transplus/ fleet manager. 5th year all good so far.

curious as well, commenting to follow. I'ev heard rose rocket is good but haven't had time to try a demo.
They're decent, but one of those Silicon Valley types that just pumped a lot of dough into the software and AI but neglect the customer support aspect. There's also no way to switch currencies on individual shipments, you have to choose one currency for all your accounts and stick with it.

This is what I've been thinking, they call us a couple of times a week but I've never bought into it, one of our customers recently switched from Transplus to Rose Rocket and they said its a lot less tedious than Transplus but it's missing quite a few features. There are so many options for TMS just cant decide

We use load links TMS and its decent, could use more features but it also has the accounting built in so that was a big thing for us.

We purchased TransPlus back in early 2021. We are more than happy with it, easy to use, easy tracking of order status, locations etc. as well as increased our cashflow as tracking of orders to completion happen more efficiently.

TransPlus reporting and analytics are almost non existent. Day to day easy to use. TMW reporting is excellent. Day to Day, not so much.

I would recommend PCS

Its not the rolls royce but the built in accounting is rock solid and they have really responsive support

Lot of integrations but dont expect a lot of customization

Actually the landscape has changed dramatically since this question was last beat to death.
It all depends on what you want to get out of your TMS in terms of reporting, and what tasks you want it to do for you.
If you're good with a simple load entry/dispatch/invoice system, then pretty much any solution will work for you.
If you want in depth accounting, payroll, O/O pay, interline pay, maintenance, asset tracking, load tracking, HOS, HR, Safety, etc., etc., etc., then you need to be looking at more robust options.
A general rule of thumb is the more you want, the more it will cost.
Then you have to decide if you want on-prem hardware, or cloud virtualization.
What does your cyber security plan look like?
What about your data security and ownership? As an example, if you're using LoadLink's cloud applications, you might not actually own your own data. If you're using a solution like mine, you most assuredly own your own data.
Are you using document imaging, or might you want it in the future?
What about EFT'ing payroll and A/P invoices?
Do you have a shop and parts inventory?
Fuel tax?
What third party systems do you need or want to integrate with?
Robotic Process Analysis?
Do you want to reduce your office staff? Change their roles?
What about remote access?
What's your budget?
The moral of the story is this isn't just a question of "What's a good TMS?" anymore.

Which leads me to a question for everyone else (sorry to semi-hijack your thread) What is everyone doing for cyber security ... besides buying insurance?

We are looking to switch from Tailwind too. We had a demo with Eleet but are still on the fence

We have a couple things going for cyber security. First, a good always to date malware/virus protection on everything. We have a cloud/on premises backup for everything through Datto that backs up hourly and has built in ransomware identification/protection (can also restore any system backed up to a virtual cloud machine in short order if needed) Any remote access is through a secure VPN. 2FA on email logins and other critical systems and a policy that limits log ins to geographic area. And a firewall in place filters all incoming and outgoing traffic.

Sounds like you're on the right track. There are so many out there that just "hope to hell it works out". As our industry continues to mature in this age of cyber technology, a carrier's security initiatives, practices, and policies are going to ever increasingly become a determining factor in the bid process.

I might have told this story already, but here goes again; I use a 3rd party IT vendor. They are very good at what they do and were confident we had adequate security in place. We, my IT peeps executive management and I, decided to commission a security test. Only myself and two people at the IT vendor knew this was going to happen. We paid a white-hat hacker to breach the system.

The results; On the fateful day the white-hat started at 10:00 AM. In 20 minutes he had access to the network. In 40 minutes he had control of the network. In 50 minutes he was into the bank accounts. In 80 minutes my IT vendor called and said "Hey we've had a breach of the system".

Pretty scary, right? In under an hour, all your money can be gone. And, you have no way to recover it.

Needless to say both our own security, and that our our IT vendor, have improved dramatically. No one will ever be able to stop a determined hacker, but making him want to move on to easier prey is the name of the game. It's like a group of people being chased by an angry bear. You don't have to be the fastest runner. You just don't want to be the slowest.

Can relate - worse is when bank account gets hacked over christmas holidays and no one at the bank wants to work - still trying to recover and get cash flow back to normal :(
And we are a small outfit ... not even worth the effort - so yes get your security in order
