This Carrier has some real communication issues. Do not take responsibility for their errors and deliver when they want to. Then proceed to demand payment for Loads we had to hire another carrier to complete. Acts like a child and threatens to contact our customer when they don't get their own way. Very rude and very unprofessional

Just curious how much is a standard mileage fee for 5 miles?

Sounds somewhat high. Was this a regular carrier you have worked with previously and used before on this lane? Agreed, 5 miles isn’t far, but how long would this extra pick up have taken, traffic, delays at the second pickup, etc..Were there any problems at the first pick up that might have ticked the carrier off? What time of the day was this second pick…late in the afternoon?Just asking to see if there were any extenuating circumstances that might have made this carrier ask for that particular amount. Usually, a situation like this would command an additional $50-$100

In LTL world-yes. In partial I would do the same, consider it as a local move. Driving, maneuvering. loading. The only some discount I would go for, if next stop would be on my way to delivery.
