Windchaser back solicited a long standing customer of ours, even though we have a contract saying they would not do this.

I know they have dispatchers working from home, do you know who the sales person was?

How about getting paid?

I have an invoice over 70 days. When I called accounts payable a week ago I was told she would email the "controller" and let me know. Well, she never let me know anything. I called her back and she tells me the "controller" hasn't gotten back to her, in a week!

So I ask to speak to this "controller", his name is Jim.

I guess Jim is too busy to even look up the invoice because he says he's doing some other company's books and I will have to call him tomorrow morning. I'm guessing he will be calling in sick...

Let your customer give Windchaser a try... It will be the best sales tool you ever had... a brutal, brutal carrier... lies, lies and more lies. They've been on our DNU list since 2006.

Windchaser was even more brutal with rates. As far as "Hail Mary" carriers are concerned, you'll pay dearly. I'm desperately trying to remember the name of the dude at Windchaser who did some loads for us when I was at Firm. Think this was back around 2001 or 2002. Anyway, 2 flatbed loads from Hamilton to somewhere near Montreal, Saturday delivery and crane appointments, etc. I think we ended up paying them like $1200 a load and they didn't deliver on time because of some issue.

Was it Eugene?

Do you want the Firm Transportation rate from 2001-2002 or what I think it should pay? What they "thought" it should have paid was like $850 back then. Typical Firm rates. Today, oh man, on 378 miles, I'd love to see $3/mile, like $75-$100 for tarps and for the Saturday crane appointment, I'd like to see another $200, so I'm coming up with $1434 before I tack on fuel. Whether or not people actually would get that in the current market is another question. And considering it's a Saturday delivery, you could justify charging a round trip. At $1434, you're making $1.90/mile if you come home empty from Montreal, which doesn't sound that great, really.

Eugene -beware

Just to inform you Eugene is a dis-bared Lawyer who has swindled most everyone he has delt with including taking out a mortgage on his ex wife's house without her knowing, until after the fact. Beware???
If you want more details PM me

Eugene Nowak (sp) I believe. He had something to do with a carrier years ago by the name of Blue Sky (think they were in Ayr beside Liberty) and previous to that I believe he Bought/Acquired a carrier from Teviotdale, On from Alex (who's last name I forget). Eugene Nowak (sp) has left a huge paper trail of unpaid bills.

There used to be a flat bedder in Teviotdale called Silver Creek (Right across from that little truck stop @ Hwy 9).

Last I heard Silver Creek was in trouble and became an agent for Universal Am-Can.

We don't get very much flat bed traffic any more so I'm a little out of the loop. Not sure if Silver Creek / Universal Am-Can is still operating or not.

Yes, Eugene passed away last year. SilverCreek is still around though- I think they are a division of Traffix
Are Windchaser and Tidal ( out of NB) related?

I am pleased to say I have just spoken with Jim at Windchaser. He was able to look up my invoices and agreed to pay both of them today.

Eugene Nowak used to operate the flatbed division of Dakota Transportation back in 1998. I didn't realize that he was a disbarred lawyer. It's not surprising though, he didn't seem to be blessed with any great degree of intelligence, and his command of English was atrocious. He doubled brokered a load I gave to Dakota, and attempted to engineer a layover and waiting time with the delivery. His plan unraveled fairly easily and I paid the carrier directly. When I confronted him after the delivery was made, he just about lost it and made many threats. He would not admit to his despicable behavior even when presented evidence. It's bad enough when to try to bullcrap anybody, but terrible when you do it to yourself. He started Windchaser shortly after that when Dakota dissolved. Too bad we didn't have Inside transport back then. If your glad to have it now, get you wallet out and donate some money to keep this site alive!

Alex owned Silver Creek in Teviotdale across from the truckstop. It was around 2003 that Eugene got/acquired/took Silver Creek from him and he became a Universal Am-Can agent and put his trucks there also. Alex opened another Silver Creek Transportation/Trucking and had a fellow (Jake I think) working with him. I believe this Silver Creek is what Traffix bought.

I had forgotten about Eugene being @ Dakota, surprised he and Dean Merkley never got together. Dean ran the specialized division for Frederick transport and was another that had trouble telling the truth.
