We brokered an exclusive use team driver shpmt (6 Skids) from NJ to AB last week. The shpmt delivered on-time, however, we have learned they used another Carrier to p/u the shpmt and transport it to Toronto. We are now concerned about paying the original Carrier the total amount. The job did get done on-time but this was not the service we ordered. I am not convinced the original carrier did'nt dbl-broker the shpmt from Toronto to Alberta either.

Do people not realize the risk they are taking when it comes to claims and/or damages. This product had huge value thus the reason for exclusive use and team drivers. The original carrier completely ignored our instructions and thinks he has the right to do whatever in order to effect delivery. Am I missing something here, Is this acceptable practice, if so I could be generating tons more of new business. Am I the only one left operating with honesty and integrity?

Oh yeah, the original carrier factored his invoice and then maybe pays his so called agents (other carriers) in 90 days. And they wonder why I have an issue. Unbelievable...........

Best way to protect yourself in the future is to let the carrier know that the shipper will be checking on the numbers on the truck to ensure it is the right carrier. Also, tell your shipper not to load a truck containing a USDOT number other than what you provided...Make sure that they understand that if they load a truck with a USDOT other than what you provided then they assume all liability for the load.
