Just did a load with these folks. Have to admit, big let down. Have been dealing with the team for several years through different employers. Picked up a load in TX, end of the following day AFTER loading, was told took driver 9.5 hours for loading and he was looking for detention.
Followed up with the shipper, found out quite a bit of discrepancy in drivers version and shipper.
After I asked my client to look into the "waiting time" found out 1/2 the shipment was damaged from driver tightening straps too hard. No protection on the panels and the paint was scuffed. I can understand damage in transit, what I didn't appreciate was no mention of damage from dispatch when requesting extra $$.
when I presented back up from client, no response from dispatch. Put on your big boy pants and step up!
Am I out of line?

No, you are not out of line at all. It appears that you have started already, but be sure to gather all relevant information about the damage and present it to the carrier along with an intent to claim for freight damage (if indeed there turns out to be damage). Be reasonable, but don’t accept no response as an answer from this carrier. If they continue to maintain “radio silence”, don’t hesitate to contact their insurer directly with your evidence of damage. Unfortunately there are some carriers out there that either through outright ignorance or wilful disregard, take the ostrich approach regarding claims, and keep their heads firmly planted in the sand.
Fortunately there are carriers out there who haven’t forgotten how to put their “big boy pants” on and deal with claims in a professional manner.
