One of our fuel cards was copied recently.
On Sunday April 1st in a 40 minute period just over $2300.00 in fuel was purchased in Vancouver and New Westminster, BC.
I just wanted to warn every one about this scam

Thanks
Steve

Bad guys allways seem to be a step ahead. Biggest problem with card locks is when drivers leave Pin# in folder with card. Critical that it be removed and kept in their wallet or somewhere else. Fuel companies will not re-imburse a penny if Pin# was used. Sadly, I know this from experience.

Fuel card

Few years back, I had very bad experience with Petro Canada fuel card. One of the drivers said he lost the card. I called in to cancel it with Petro Canada and I was told that was it.

4 months later around Christmas, 18k of fuel was bought on same card. I contacted Petro Canada and the police. The police did not even bother calling back. Most of the fuel was bought at nordel petro in Delta, BC.

The manager said she had the movies of the activity but police said it was not clear for them to pursue those people. When I showed the picture to the manager (same driver) she did recognize him in those recordings.

Just wanted to share this, so other people can avoid this kind of situation.

BigT. That is very alarming. I do not understand how it would be your responsibility to cover these charges if the card was deactivated/cancelled. I am interested in what Petro Canada has to say about this. I believe that from now on, I will request our fuel provider to send me something via email or some other written form that the card has been cancelled.

We have a daily limit on the cards and it can only be used once a day works well for us as we get a report every morning on what we have purchased the day before. So the worst you can be out is whatever it takes to fill 1 set of tanks.

Fuel Card

Chica,

I learned hard way. When we called Petro Canada, they said that they may record for training purpose, I requested that recording, which they refused to give it to me. I ended up calling numerous times but got nowhere.

Yes, we did get a cancelled report in writing now. We did put daily limits on all the cards. Did get set up on line with all the fuel providers to see on line. That is on the top of list (things to do) now.

lowmiler88,

Alarming thing with the Petro Pass (Canada) was, when one card was being used over and over during same day, they should have called us. Which was a very unusual thing.
