INGERSOLL, Ont. -- Trucknews.com has learned that automotive trucking company Verspeeten Cartage has purchased Moe’s Transport.

Scott Verspeeten, general manager of Verspeeten Cartage confirmed the deal this afternoon. Even before the deal, Verspeeten ranked as one of Canada’s biggest automotive specialists. According to the Top Tier report published byMotortruck Fleet Executive, Verspeeten ran 280 tractors and 518 trailers. Moe’s operates 350 tractors and 690 trailers.

“The purchase of Moe’s fits well into our existing business segment, sharing many of the same customers which should strengthen and increase current capacities,” said Ron Verspeeten, president of Verspeeten Cartage. “We are very excited to work with Moe’s Management and staff, continuing to provide quality truckload service to all customers.”

Moe’s operates terminals in Windsor, Ont., Whitby, Ont. and Romulus, Mich. Just last year Verspeeten celebrated its 60th year in business.

Big transaction this is.....nice to hear an Ontario based carrier bought another Ontario based carrier rather than a U.S. outfit or TransForce.........Verspeeten well respected, however I have no insight to Moe's.

Maybe now Moe's will clean up their act... What is it two or three fatalities that they were involved in in the past couple months?

Ya.. I'm not holding my breath on that happening...

The accident was caused by the taxi cutting off the Moe's driver, compounded by the taxi having an illegally installed propane tank that exploded on contact.
Start breathing now.

Well that certainly is an interesting perspective...not one that I'd believe mind you but hey..you're entitled to your opinion. That said...you might want to spend some time on the roads watching the way those trucks are driven...
