Hello all,
Since the US Thanksgiving is on Thursday, does that mean that most companies will take a 4-day long weekend? Looking for insight from any of you with american customers.
Thanks!

Hi there Salma. Thanksgiving in the USA is BIG. Many companies are open Wednesday regular hours; although you run into a few that are eager to leave early and close up in the early afternoon. Beware of this! Friday, well if you have a regular inbound customer to service that is wonderful. If you are just blindly sending a truck out there Friday with the hopes of finding inbound, I would think long and hard about that. You might sense that in earlier years we did that with a few trucks and ended up paying for that mistake. Paying dearly. Many companies are closed. And with inbound being a bit scarce as it is, I , myself am not sending anyone out there this year. Just my personal experience!

Salma, US thanksgiving is always on a Thursday. And it is bigger than Christmas. It is actually the opening of the holiday season in the US. I recommend that you verify all customs documents by the end of the day tomorrow(Tuesday) because most of the higher ups will be gone until next Tuesday. Except for Black Friday, everything is pretty much closed by noon on Wednesday

You're right, it always falls on a Thursday. I think we have been lucky in the past with not having any drivers stuck in the US for the long weekend. I don't think I'll take a risk this year though - there's just not enough inbound freight.
Good point as well about getting customs documents taken care of early.
Thanks!

With that being said we will have a dry van available south of Memphis on Friday afternoon if anyone has freight, the customer is paying the driver to sit but if we can move him we will.
