Hey All,

This is a new one for us. We had a driver cross last week, and he mentioned to us that the CBP officer asked him how long he usually waits for a reload, and he replied that he usually waits till the next day. She proceeded to say that if it's more than 4 days, you need to report it to CBP or else you (the carrier) can get in trouble. Has anyone had any experience with this? Our trucks dont usually wait longer than a day or 2 in the slowest times, but this is news to me.

They always ask drivers about the reload or when, but never mentioned trip deadline.

There are so many factors like long weekend, accident, truck breakdowns or even finding a freight under current market condition that can't dictate a fix schedule.

We had a truck waiting in AZ almost a week since we can't afford to come back empty from there. BTW, Do you pay your drivers a Layover?

I do know them asking about a reload in the past which is normal but never heard of this 4 day window.

And yes, we do pay our drivers layovers. I dont think they were concerned if drivers get paid to sit but more the duration of the layover. I looked online and couldnt find anthing on the Googles about this just random AI scripts saying it is a possibilty but no sources or CBP directives to back it up.
