update from Drive BC

Dear Tim,
November 18, 2021

We would like to update you on the on-going situation in British Columbia.

We continue to make progress on safely restoring our Subdivisions between Kamloops and Vancouver. We have cleared and repaired the track between Boston Bar and Vancouver and are currently working on restoring multiple locations between Lytton and Falls Creek.

Due to the dynamic nature of this situation, we do not presently have an estimated reopening time and anticipate that the outage will go into next week.

Please be aware that although the weather has improved, there are still active land and rock slide locations as well as water flowing from higher elevations. Movement along highways also remain challenging with multiple closures throughout the area.

CN crews are committed to working safely and diligently to resume normal operations and will continue to work around the clock until restoration is complete.

We appreciate your patience and support at this time. We will continue to update you as the situation evolves.

Please reach out to your Customer Service Representative regarding any questions that you may have.

Thank you, we appreciate your business.

We where told CN is starting to move their trains now but they have to move all trains out of BC first to make room for the 90 loaded trains sitting to get back to BC. Still no timeframe as to when they will start picking up BC freight at this time.

I am happy to be sharing with you that our efforts to repair our corridor between Kamloops, BC and Boston Bar, BC continue to progress well. As stated yesterday, we are targeting to resume train operations on Wednesday, November 24, 2021.

At this time, we are working closely with CP to operate trains on their track between Kamloops and Vancouver.

We understand that this unplanned outage has disrupted all of the supply chains to and from the Greater Vancouver Area, and I am pleased to say that we will be operating select traffic between Prince George, BC and Vancouver, BC on our north – south line tomorrow, November 24th.

Rest assured, a multitude of people are engaged in the safe restoration of our rail line and we appreciate all the actions and efforts that each of you have contributed as we work together to restore service.

I will continue to update you on our progress until all restorations are complete.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we begin our transition from restoration to recovery. We appreciate your business and look forward to collaborating with each of you in the coming weeks while we rebalance our supply chains.

Should you require any immediate assistance or further information please contact your Account Manager or Customer Service Representative.
