Today I got a call from them about a reefer load they have from Toronto ON to Chicago IL. Just told them I don't have a truck available as the last time we did a load for them it took 5 MONTHS and a LOT of phone calls to get our money. Just a heads up.

They use a USA phone number sometimes. They have called me in the past but we have never done any business.

Just for a point of interest. Some carriers use US phone numbers as they get a better rate in the US than in Canada....and most of their calls occur in the USA. Not saying this is the case here but we have dealt with a couple carriers that use buffalo, NY and Detroit, MI cell numbers.

I have as well PackRat

Double brokering......the scourge of our industry. Stones, have you paid the fraudulent party? If so, you might be on the hook to pay the actual carrier as well. Hopefully the actual carrier has not started to hound your customer for payment. Nobody needs that embarrassment. Hardly a day goes by lately, without a post about double brokering and the mayhem that ensues from it. You cannot let your guard down for a minute these days.

Yes we paid. All parties shall be paid however we shall be pursuing him in a very tactical manner :). That is a fact that the guard needs to be up!

Glad to see that you are taking the ethical approach here and ensuring that the carrier who actually hauled the freight is compensated. Painful lessons such as this do tend to be remembered. Good for you for calling out his scoundrel!!!
