HAPPY NEW YEAR folks ...

Just feel like I am not running a trucking company but a travel agency on the side - some requests from drivers:

1. Wife and I want to go to Houston, TX to spend the holidays with the kids - so get me there by 12/22 and then we would like to go to AB to meet the in laws and then back home - timeline provided
2. Need to meet my college friends in ON and then going to FL please - my GF has relatives there
3. Can you get me to Montreal for New Years - it's my best friends stag party and then back two weeks later for the wedding

This in response to my email asking who will be taking time off this holiday season and what dates

Just sayin' ... I see potential in the travel business

We had to stop allowing our trucks to be used for any personal travel. We had a driver go visit a relative in Chicago and he hit a low bridge bobtailing, thankfully the damage was minor. Another driver got a no-truck route ticket going to see friends. Dont forget the hassle of parking tickets for leaving trucks unattended. Just not worth the hassle as at the end of the day you are on the hook for it.

that's true - these are drivers that have been with us for a long time... and the issue is in this market safe reliable drivers are also hard to find ...
we will be looking into how we want to deal with these ... maybe one request a year ???

This brought memories back from my previous life, if you know what I mean..

I was giving to my employees 1 paid day off next day after their Birthday if it was falling on Monday through Thursday..

There was very little productivity on that day anyway, plus giving a chance to celebrate properly...

But that was me back than, eh..;)
