Trucker Convoy

Personal opinion to myself as well - this isn't the place for politics. :)
But I will be strategically scheduling my guys on Thursday. Typically I would send my drivers to London first thing in the morning to avoid GTA rush hour, then to Toronto mid-day. Thursday I will do the opposite so they can get out of GTA before things get real busy, then go to London mid-day, to hopefully avoid the mid-morning back up of the London - Drumbo segment. We still have a job to do, and customers to service whether we agree or disagree with the movement.

We're already seeing an impact on the roads in some areas, specifically in Windsor this week with border crossings. With the introduction of showing vaccine paperwork to get into the US, and the active protests, Windsor is insanely busy in both directions from the feedback I've received from my drivers. Ensuring everyone gives themselves a few extra hours this week while we're in the height of protests.

Yes - Windsor definitely needs more time... had to move delivery appts.

The real heroes in my book, are the drivers that willingly rolled up their sleeves and got vaccinated and today, continue to go to work to help keep our economy growing and their families fed. Sorry, but being used as patsies by a handful of hardcore Western separatists (the Maverick Party) and their crackpot political agenda, does a disservice to our industry and all of the hardworking, law abiding men and women that have quietly and peacefully made trucking their profession. Hats off to them, not the rabble.

I'm observing the goverment reaction to any kind of a protest in our industry.
Not long ago dump truck drivers had a few protests about industry mandates for weight distributions and SPIFs..
Goverment caved in...
Drivers who are in convoy not looking for an excuse not to work, but be a valuable part of an industry and not to be segregated.
I guess you are noticed I kept my opinion to myself, eh..

The Real Heroes...... everyday Canadians that go to work , provide for themselves & their family & their communities. No matter what vaccination status , left wing or right wing , ethnicity, or 1 of the 72 genders.
The enemy in all this is the Government , not to be too political .....

And thank God we are fortunate to live in a country where every man and woman can freely and with out fear or coercion, cast a ballot at election time to have their voice heard. Unlike some other countries where whoever yells the loudest, or assembles the largest mob, or worse, throws the most stones, gets to dictate government policy and direction. That is the kind of environment that breeds demigods, strong men and dictators.

and the government is voted in by the citizens so I guess we are our own worst enemy

Sorry Igor, I can only tolerate a certain amount of crap before my crap meter explodes.
”Yup, let’s show them bastards, yup, we’re sick and tired of all this shit”. This is a sad commentary for our industry.

No Igor, it is not. There are always going to be a group of people who are forever unhappy. Unhappy with the government, unhappy with their position in life, whatever. Add in two years of restrictions, lockdowns and all the other challenges and frustrations we have had to deal with because of COVID, and those people say enough is enough. In this case it seems that various radical fringe groups are capitalizing on that frustration and using it to advance their cause. What it is that this group wants to accomplish however eludes me. Have the government do away with the vaccine mandate? It isn’t going to happen, nor should it. Have the government magically make COVID disappear. It can’t. If people are unhappy with the government, elections are how we fix that in this country.

We have all been vaccinated many times since we were born. I don't understand the push back from the usual small minority who want to protest everything just so they can protest. At one point, we trusted our doctors and scientists because they are a hell of a lot smarter than any of us. The silly "the vaccine was created too quickly" is laughable too. There were thousands of the smartest scientists and doctors all over the world working 24/7 to create it to save all of us. When these people have a heart attack and are rushed to the hospital, hooked up to machines and pumped full of drugs and life saving medicines, do they question the doctors then too? There will always be the 10% who hate management, government or anyone else telling them what to do. They are the same ones who want democracy but only if their party wins. If their party loses, hit the streets and protest and stomp your feet like a 5 year old until you get your way....

My feelings in a nutshell! I thought I was the only one who felt like that. Such a relief. :)

The silent majority...and I mean majority :)

The 90% understand their rights.

The right to vote
The right to accept the vote even if their party loses
The right to accept that the majority rules
The right to be part of a civilized society even if we don't always get our own way
The right to compromise
The right to vote again and repeat the same steps
