My curiosity has gotten the better of me this morning. While reviewing some quotes, my attention was drawn to this one. Toronto to St. John NB. I oversized skid 96” X 48” x 19” 540lbs. When I read what our usual carrier for this lane has quoted, I was shocked. So I would like to hear from some other carriers as to what they might quote for this shipment. Dock to dock, no appt req’d., no Haz Mat, no temperature protection req,d. Who knows, maybe my shock will be for nothing and rates for this lane have gone up drastically while I have been asleep. Thanks to all.

That is exactly the difference in rates that I was expecting. Common carriers with slow service, multiple handling and transfers, increased risk of damage, should be approx $250. Other carriers with no transfers (1 max), delivery within 5-7 days or maybe even over the wknd, seems to be $500-600. Like everything else in life, you get what you pay for.
