Topspeed Transport ( mississauga )

re: service

Yes, service we got from them was total crap. They are blacklisted here. They delivered in Oregon with many days late. They are trying to go to shipper-receiver for payment as we refused to pay the load (was an ltl). We had to deduct 60% of the bill to satisfy customer. Thing is they did not deliver the load but rather went through local service in Oregon.

I actually ended up doing a couple loads with them and noticed too the service was pretty bad. They are now on our DNU list as well.

I am posting this on behalf of my customer who used Topspeed to deliver 2 skids into Las Vegas for a tradeshow.

Skids were to be delivered March 16. As of today, March 17, they are still enroute to Las Vegas, the truck was in Denver yesterday. May or may not deliver tomorrow, 2 days late at best. So much for the tradeshow that her client spent thousands of dollars on to be there.

I have done lots of tradeshows....my heart goes out to your customer...spending THOUSANDS on a trade show and no freight, supplies, flyers...anything...wonder if whos is actually doing the delivery? Hope they get it resolved in time to make some sales.

Not exactly Top Speed is it?

There are places where you can cut corners and places when you can not. Honestly, there are very few carriers that I would trust to deliver to a trade show for me.

I'd rather say "no I can't do it" to the customer than be known as "the guy that wrecked their trade show in Vegas".

Sometimes you have to pay a fair rate to get the job done right.

I'd say this customer just learned that the hard way.

That is very unfortunate...

We were in this type of predicament with a trade show customer a few years back. We knew the freight would not deliver in time due to unforeseen issues - so we offered to air expedite what they needed. It cost a fortune but the customer was able to carry on with the show. For what it cost to send the items air - their claim for missing the show entirely would have been alot more....

The customer was satisfied with our resolution and we offered discounts on future freight. In the end it worked out fine and it was handled professionally. In our case we were lucky to have that extra time and know in advance the shipment wouldn't arrive on time - and that came down to proper load planning....

I too had issues with these guy's....the dispatcher used to work for Exel Transportation and did the same nasty crap there...They did a shipment for me to CA and assured me my freight was delivered only soon to find out that it had not....when I confronted Chris after many phone calls to find out where the load was he finally admitted that it was not yet in CA...I had to call the local carrier that was doing his deliveries to find out the freight was arriving at his dock the next day....He was honest with me and did all he could to get the freight to the destination......2 days late.....on my DNU with many exclamation points!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gave them 1 shipment May of this year. Delivered 1 day late. Never gave them anything after that. Lots of excuses.

I 'undisabled' or perhaps re-enabled them 11/19/10 as we required their services.

I wish I hadn't.

Notes in my system show that tracing a delivery is like pulling teeth, delivered to the wrong address, do I really need to go on..?

They are back on the DNU, only for good this time.

Happy Friday,

Mike

I gave them a load 2 weeks ago, my confirmation clearly stated in the comment section AND also hand written that the consignee needs to be called prior to delivery so the arrangements for the offload could be made. When I spoke with Raj, he flat out told me that they DO NOT read the confirmations, so I would have a problem if they couldn't offload his driver. I will not be using TopSpeed again.

Shows

I am surprised to see carriers take LTL shipments to shows. Doing shows is hard enough as it is, if you have to go to the exhibition hall yourself as opposed to dropping the freight at a specified agent.
Add some other LTL freight to that mix with all its inherent problems such as scheduling and customs. You can easily end up with a recipe for disaster.
Why take that risk with a good client.
Your client may have spent a great deal of money setting up this show, most likely in the tens of thousands. Would it be wise to try to ship their goods as LTL for say $1000.00 versus $4000.00 for a FTL???
I would pass before risking my relationship with the client!!!

We gave them a shipment going out West, it took 14 days to deliver. Everyday we were told it would deliver the next day, this went on for over a week. I started begging for an honest answer so I could give the customer accurate info, they continued to lie. I ended up checking the PAPS and finding out the shipment only crossed the border a week after I gave it to them, they are on my DNU list also.

I had given them freight when Chris (who was with Excel before they stoped going stateside) was with them, and because they didn't have their stuff together, he flat out told me... do not use us until I get them organized. Guess he never could cause now he's on his own and if anyone wants to know where he is, let me know, he's doing a weekly run between ON and CA.

Last experience with them was a few months ago, I can't say it was unpleasant, they did what they had to do and freight arrived only a day late. So...........

Topspeed

I am glad I read the notes before chancing to use them today for the first time.
Thanks,
