TIMEWISE TILT-N-LOAD INC - MC1124902

Sucks that they cancelled at 630am, but the weather/kids off/snow day safety. Its not improbable that something like this may occur. Your supersize load probably runs on annuals, I have no doubt you'll come up with a plan and the crane is probably running behind too lol.

Did the cranes have to travel very far to get on site this morning?

I recall that any carrier that called me and genuinely said "my drivers do not feel safe on the road, we have to cancel" would rarely if ever warrant a negative reaction from me. This would apply to a load booked, in transit or 20 feet from the consignees dock. Sure it's a piss off, but remember YOU are not the one in the truck, another human being with elevated heartbeat is.
My 2 cents - shipper, crane company, carrier and you should have had a conversation when this storm was forecast to discuss the 'what if's'.

Anyway, the last big dump I got up here was 40 cm, cleared the drive in record time and went about my day.

Keep well, I hope your customer understands,
Mike

Oh - the same would apply to any shipper or consignee that did not open for business in a brutal storm, "when can we reschedule this project for everyone involved?" is the only question for all parties.

Hey Shayne,

I read your deleted comment and totally understand what you mean there. Even if all the facts/details point in one direction sometimes the spidey senses still tingle.

:)
Keep well,
Mike

this weather didnt just appear over night unexpectedly, its been in the forecast for at least 3 days on cp24, ctv, global and cbc

pretty sure they dropped my load to do tow truck work in the city
It wasn't the regular media hype of SNOWMAGGEDEN or something similar. They were not even sure how it would affect Ontario until Sunday late. As a carrier I can't count on the media to make decisions days away because we have had lots of times that lots of snow fell but the roads remained passable - slow but manageable. We pulled our trucks when we heard all the 400 series highways in GTA were stopped or closed. Remember the carrier bares all the brunt of the insurance company when things go wrong.

If you knew of it, why didn't you cancel the crane on Friday or suggest deferring to Tuesday? I know I would not want a supersize load when roads are horrible.

No travel is allowed when road conditions, weather conditions, or visibility make travelling hazardous to the operator or to the driving public if the roadway is: Partly Snow Covered, Fully Snow Covered, Snow Packed, Icy, or there is a Road Closure or Reduced Visibility (ie. visibility is 500m or less) .

Booked and O/D load with me, then showed up and said driver is refusing to load due to snow on the ground???? then said they did not have the correct permits to move the load....gassed me for an additional 1600.00 just to move it, had no choice to pay as it needed to move but definitely DNU
