Is it just me or what? I'm just having a very hard time understanding how $100/ft from anywhere, whether it be NY, KS, GA,TX, CA, OR etc, is fair??? So 10 feet out of Oregon will pay the same $100 as 10 feet out of OH. Sorry, I'm still scratching my head on this on... Kinda the same thing as when I'm asked to lower my rate because it's only dirt... Like as if the fuel will burn less quickly because it's only dirt???...
Does the paying customer always pay $100/ft or is it us the carriers getting rolled...

Yes .... but I don't think that's true.

If you're talking about freight from major centres in states then there should be quite a bit of variance in these rates per foot on LTL. But ... say you have 10 feet in NC but instead of it being in Charlotte, it's in some BF place like Wilmington where everyone is running out of route. That has to be factored in somehow.

Some areas have so much traffic that there are load factors and efficiencies that can be achieved with LTL that just aren't the case in some other areas.

I tend to agree, not much difference on what you get to pull a skid or two from L.A as opposed to Atlanta which is half the distance.

well, every once in a while we decide to go ltl in an area. ID usually doesn't have many trucks around and we get offered $100/ foot ... with a deadline for delivery.
We go all over the place and we've done ltl from FL, LA, GA, OH, PA, TX and OR, ID, WA, UT and it's always the same and sometimes even less.. now come on ... with a deadline for Monday...
