Thanksgiving

Please remember the things we have to be thankful for.
Our health, our families, our first world quality of life, the new people we have this year to celebrate with (Matthew and others) and those we lost this past year who are feasting with our elders.

Keep well and God bless,
Mike

RIP Grandpa. RIP Larry, far too many others this year.

Yes, but only after removing the tastiest, plumpest ones for ourselves. Of course, we then "forced" the poor, helpless carrier to deliver what was left of the load on holiday Monday. Hmmmm.....pass the gravy please!
For anyone not familiar with my sense of humour, please be advised, my tongue is firmly planted in my cheek.

Hmmm, so it's kinda like we're the pioneers and they are the natives? Interesting analogy really.. if you think about it, the land was fruitful and enough to go around for all, until those damn pioneers showed up, brought disease, alcohol pillaged the land and push the natives to the north...(too much?).. sorry into the sauce a little early today!

Not to pour cold water onto what I think was an entirely appropriately sarcastic humorous thread and comments, I thought I should share an email I got from a broker client of hours regarding our reluctance to do deliveries in the GTA this Sunday and Monday (me in bold, he in italics :

I hope everyone else gets the same chuckles

His reply

The customer needs the freight on Sunday / Monday which is what they need. there is no upcharge to deliver one day over the next. Not good business guys

My response

J,

Your team asked us yesterday if we could accommodate a delivery on the holiday Monday. We advised at that point that we would check to see if we had a driver and what the upcharge would be, which they told us to let us know. We were simply following up to that conversation. We are totally fine with a delivery Tuesday, which was the second alternative presented to us.

If you have further questions, please feel free to contact me directly, my contact information is below.

First email

Will get you an appointment for when it’s convenient for you to deliver. last time I checked trucking worked 24/7. Delivery appointment change fee is $300. Please confirm.

Obviously, that broker has eaten too much of those nice plump turkeys, or had too much of that thick, rich gravy. Either way, there is only one answer to that kind of response....ask him, "well, that depends". He will say......"depends on what".
To which you answer..........."depends on whether you can go f*** yourself, or not".

I must post a footnote. That famous line originated in a Trailer Park Boys episode. My sincere thanks to "Bubbles" for a come back I use on a regular basis.

Do you really need the work that bad to put up with dicks like that ???
My response (since I'm not a fan of openly burning bridges) "I'm sorry. This took too long to get organized, and we have tasked our equipment elsewhere.". But, that's just me :)

I liked "Bubbles" reply better ............

$300 to rebook an appointment? I thought that was part of the value added service provided buy our dear broker friends?

Counter with a pretrip inspection fee.. 300 bucks.. to make sure truck is good and roadworthy.
