I talked about a load with these folks, and when I saw how unappreciated they are in the business, I was startled to see how people continue to add them to the DNU list. There need to be a point system for both shipper brokers and carriers, and anyone who repeatedly violates the rules should be banned. I'm not sure how these organizations continue to deal with businesses that don't know how they behave with their clients and workers. I was also surprised to see that they don't pay their staff.I'm not trying to be personal, but I'm speaking up so that someone could save his foot after seeing this or another message that I came across on social media. Thank you.

Thanks for the welcome (and the advice!). I know the trucking world operates on its own set of “rules”—or lack thereof—and I’m all for rolling with the punches. Just trying to navigate the twists and turns and find the best way forward.

Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on your business perspective, the transportation industry is basically “every man, or woman for themselves”. The only rules are the ones you choose to operate by. Your best bet is to align yourself with suppliers and customers who share that same set of rules. In other words, people with the same values, ethics and morale compass. If you decide to stray outside of that, be prepared for lies, cheats, thieves and a whole assortment of less than savoury characters. In todays market, there is no such thing as being too cautious, or exercising an over abundance of due diligence.
