Speaking of LoadLink ...

Any lane, and you won't see me on there anymore. I cancelled my account, and here's why ...
I had noticed my cost per month had skyrocketed. So I called LoadLink to cancel my account and the young lady I spoke to asked why because apparently I use it a lot especially posting loads.
I said that's odd because I don't post loads on LoadLink ever.
That's when it became evident that I had their top-of-the-line package. I never ordered their top-of-the-line package.
Quickly we determined my account had been hacked. So, I asked to be transferred to the tech support department and when I got there the conversation went like this ...
Me: it appears my account has been hacked and I'll need a new user ID and password.
TS: you just need to reset the password.
Me: as long as I have the ID I can reset the password, correct?
TS: yes, that is correct.
Me: Then what's the point of just resetting the password when the person that hacked my account in the first place has the user ID?
TS: crickets
Me: Click.
Called back to customer service and told the nice young lady to just cancel the account.
I figured for what the annual cost of a usable LoadLink account is I can run back and forth across the country, empty, once, and still be slightly ahead of the game.

well I'ev seen a "Ludwig Transport" on there couple months ago (wish I could remember which month to be exact). It was a for a GTA move I believe, it stuck out to me since I saw it on the link right after reading a post from you on here. Haven't seen "Ludwig Transport" on the link since TBH. Will keep an eye out if anything pops up.

damn!!!! it's now come to this - hacking loadlink accounts...
so we travelled this summer and asked for the mobile app - which we pointed out had glitches and this is what happen:
Me: I have a Samasung and the app has XYZ issues - eg it doesn't update automatically etc..
LL: We know about this
Me: Why didn;t you let me know this when I subscribed to it?
LL: We thought you would use an iPhone
Me: what are my ooptions - will this be fixed?
LL: You need to get an iPhone

needless to say we didn't get the mobile app .... why can't thsi monopoly of their loadbd end????

These days it seems, your best bet is to join up with another member and split the costs. Way too overpriced!

They have been a monopoly for dozens of years. May be the only reason they are successfull. No competition. Imagine if they had to compete like the rest of us.

I feel like if DAT cut ties with LL and started selling their services in Canada we would have a better option. DAT has its issues as well like systems outages but at the price point, I think I can deal with it.

Personally, I have to question the wisdom of carriers using LoadLink as a primary source of revenue. While I truly do not have any hard numbers, it seems to me that no one who uses LL as a primary revenue source lasts very long in this industry. Couple that with unbelievable amount of near-criminal activity on LL, and I really have to wonder where the value in such a service lies.
There are plenty of broker-owned or broker-specific load boards out there. Why does anyone really need LL?
Just my personal thoughts on the subject ... YMMV

DAT and Loadlink own by the same company. You cannot have a DAT account unless you have LL account.
Just imagine while having your coffee of the day.
134000 Carriers in Canada as per 2019 stats and let's assume 50% use LL. Each member gives them $600 on average. my calculator stopped working here..
Brokers in this forum. Does LL pays you to post loads?. I heard they pay to CH but I might be wrong

I'm not a broker but I don't believe that's the case, LL does have brokerage subscription packages so they get money on both ends. CH robinson has their own board called Navisphere but its mostly for US/Mexico freight (and cross border). From my understanding their Canadian offices handle the canadian local freight who in turn use LL to find carriers. Its a joke really cause if their LL posts don't get booked you'll find it on their board for a bit more paying in USD.

LL could/should be a great tool to connect freight with trucks that need outbounds/inbounds or fill in gaps on your overall ops but it just falls short cause of the ever rising cons lists. There are other boards but they are very niche: Evotrux, Doft are some to name a few. Just nowhere near the widespread adoption as LL, which makes them next to useless really. It is way overdue for some LL competition but until there's a mass exodus of carriers or brokers to another board that's not going to happen.

one thing to note, spoke to a broker who's got a "whatsapp group" of a few other brokers and carriers who offer capacity and freight leads before going to the link. The brokers and carriers have worked together with each other and once truck and load are matched the respective parties take their conversation privately. The group is invite only, and its pretty small but it does the trick for the most part. You'd still have to do your own DD but thats the same with the Link just FREE.

I use to have a DAT account and not Loadlink. This was a couple years ago but I don't believe that's accurate. All US subscribers don't sign onto the Link to get DAT.

US based carriers dont have to have Link access, but if you are Canadian Based you have to have an MC if not a LINK account for DAT access. I tried to get a DAT and was kindly redirected to Load Link lol.

That's neat, didn't know they were owned by the same company. From my knowledge, Canadian carriers cannot sign up for DAT, you can try signing up but they will refer you to LL.

I am LL member for the past 10 years now but found this from my brother who became a member last year. he went to DAT to sign up because its way cheaper than he was told to have LL account. So I acted smart and told him to open the cheapest LL account which is like $350 or something. he opened it and went back to DAT and guess what, DAT said you need to be at least GOLD Member. $650 because you have MC and you will be looking for crossborder leads as well. A great example of MONOPOLY my friends.

Almost sound like a class action. Are monopolies not illegal?

I always imagined that's what this board/forum was for ... to bring together like-minded individuals to explore any synergies they might have.
wish there was a way to post capacity or loads on the "shout box". or another "shout box" on the main page for posting loads and freight. Its a great idea and i'm sure people on this forum would benefit. Mods wanna chime in lol?
