Anyone else catch this new show on A&E called "Shipping Wars"? In my opinion it makes transporters look like idiots! To sum it up, in the first 2 episodes these (for the lack of a better term) transport companies (who claim to be professionals) are operating unlicensed equipment, running broken down equipment, running out of fuel (he actually syphened fuel by sucking on a hose, then mooched off another driver), no permits, no paperwork for cargo, inproper insurance, damaging loads and late deliveries. Don't even get me started on what they were doing to the rates! If I didn't know any better I would think this show took place in parts of Brampton!
This is a joke of a portayal of the transportation industry.
One womans' opinion...just sayin!

I really hope that "Customers" don't take this serious and think all trucking companies do this with their freight - LOL.

Then again this is TV !!!!
 
I haven't seen that one but all you have to do is watch Ice Road Truckers to know how stupid it will be. They make it seem like they are running 100 miles per hour on the ice and every truck they pass is a near miss.........it is funny how that same horn blast happens everytime a trucks pass each other. They can make a show out of anything.
 
I watched it last night it should be called gong show wars. Uship.com a complete reverse auction process with every hillbilly in the word thinking they are a transportation service provider..

Not intended to offend any Hillbillies.......
 
A&E will make a reality show if you're a mouthbreather hillbilly with a cottage industry. Case in point: "American Hoggers", for example. "Lady Hoggers" sounded like some kind of show about fat women hanging out at a mall food court. Turns out it's just another variation of American Hoggers. A&E seems to be appealing to the lowest common denominator. Someone could pitch a show that features barely literate people who sit on Kijiji all day and try to lowball every ad poster then try to resell stuff and A&E would probably do it. Shipping Wars is one step above doing a show that centers on following dispatchers who will call on ANY piece of freight you have on the Link and then try to double-broker it or get it for their own trucks, except that there's no siphoning of gas. Yet.
 
Almost put my foot through the TV. Think I might email A&E. Just a big tv ad for uship.com I hope the people in that show are watching it now and saying "boy do we look like Dumb A$$'s"
 
I watched a whole episode over the weekend and all I could think of is all those carriers on one of the GM load boards sitting there, putting in lowball bids and then second-guessing themselves and cutting their own rates. Mind you, on the GM and Ford load boards, while you don't get to see who else is bidding, you do get awarded loads that you bid on that you don't think you're going to get. The guys on that show aren't "18-wheel" truckers but they sure talk like people that would have an interesting time filling a 53' trailer and making a buck. I really felt sorry for the couple with the boat going out west and all I thought was that guy is definitely on his way to cancer with that gas siphoning. That was just sad to know. I hope uShip is enjoying the free publicity and making "reverse auctions" more popular, like quibids.com and beezid.com where people think getting big ticket items for next to nothing is how business is done. It's that kind of mentality that is worrisome when people fight for freight like dogs fighting over a porkchop.
 
Did anyone notice the Mill Creek truck and trailer in last night's episode driving by...
